Our windows are easy to
operate – sashes are
perfectly balanced for

simply be removed, cleaned
and replaced in a matter of

SILLS AND SILL TRIM
Exterior Wood Trim is offered in various profiles –
WM180 Brickmould which is standard or optional.
5/4x4, 1x4 and 1x6 – which can be used with or
without wood Backband trim. PVC (no rot) Brickmould,
along with 5/4x4, 1x4, 1x6 and 1x4BB trim is
also available.
Wood units come standard with treated and primed
wood sill and nosing (exterior). Clad sills are
standard on clad units and available on wood units.
Sill Trim (interior) is available in Standard and
Reversible trim on wood or clad sills. Reversible sill
trim must be used when the jamb thickness is greater

SCREENS
Screens are optional on all vent window units. They
consist of a heavy, white aluminum
frame (3/4” x 7/16” .024 rollformed) with charcoal fiberglass
mesh. Spring loaded plungers
at the top make removal easy.
Half screens are
available for radius vent
units. Specify screen
and color desired at the time of order.
Wood units come standard with
White screens. On clad units, the color is matched
to the exterior cladding finish.

treated and primed. Clad exteriors encase the wood
exterior frame in .050 extruded aluminum clad and
the wood exterior sash in roll-formed .024 aluminum
clad, all with an applied low maintenance electrostatic polyester enamel to resist scratches and make
cosmetic upkeep easier than ever imagined. Clad
finish is available in White, Cream, Sand, Bronze

SILL
Frame members shall be select finger jointed
softwood pine treated with repellant preservative in
accordance with WDMA IS 4-94. Exterior frame
members shall be extruded aluminum clad up to
.080 (not a light-weight .040” rolled stock like so
many others use) in thickness, sealed at the corners
and fastened with a lexan corner key system and
stainless steel screws.
Sill shall be aluminum with an adjustable synthetic
threshold. The sill shall be fully adjustable, with a
range of over 1/4” to fine-tune every installation for
maximum water and air protection. Sill finish options
(in addition to aluminum) include brass or bronze
anodized on standard 4-9/16" and 6-9/16”depth
units. Inswing french doors with screen kits are not
available with Brass or Bronze finish options. An ADA
compliant “handicapped” sill is
also available in
mill finish only. (No screen options are available with
the ADA sill. ADA sills are not available for 6-9/16"
and larger jamb depths.) Screen sill tracks are
standard on all multipanel door systems with standard sills. Note that 2 and 3 panel French applications require an extension kit to house the second
screen. This kit provides sufficient depth to allow for
either a 4-9/16" or 6-9/16" installation.
F INISH
The entire CHPD system shall be capped with
extruded aluminum. The wall thicknesses shall
exceed .080”. All exterior clad painted parts shall
be finished with a high solids polyester thermal
setting “No-Mar” finish that requires minimal
maintenance and resists scratches and surface
damage better than most other finishes on the
market. The finish shall meet or exceed the AAMA
2603 Industry Standard which meets the 1000 hour
salt spray test criteria. Standard colors are White,
Cream, Sand, Bronze, and Green.

W EATHERSTRIPPING
Weatherstripping shall be foam filled polyethylene
factory installed on heads and jambs of both inswing and out-swing doors and at the bumper sill
of the out-swing door for maximum protection from
air and water infiltration. Sweeps are manufactured
from a TPR (Thermo Plastic Rubber) material which
has superior UV resistance and better memory
retention and resistance to paint damage than soft
vinyl weatherstrips and sweeps. Monarch’s unique
fixed panel Z-Flashing has proven itself over years
of exposure to be one of the best designs to resist
water penetration. Additional improvements have
been made, utilizing similar principles, in the fixed
panel vertical weatherstripping making water
penetration virtually impossible.

They consist of a heavy extruded aluminum frame

provided with adjustable rollers and shipped in
separate cartons, color matched to the exterior
cladding finish. Monarch’s two panel French doors
have, available as an option, a twin screen kit that
allows the entire opening to be fully screened. This
option must be specified at the time of the order,
because a frame extension kit must be applied at the
factory to accommodate the second screen. This
option is also available in Triple French doors (French
doors with an adjacent fixed panel). Quad French
doors with two adjacent fixed panels utilize a byparting screen system that only requires one screen
track. Not available on French doors with sidelites.
C LAD B RICKMOULD
Clad Brickmould is available as an option on all
Clad in-swing and out-swing configurations. Note
that on two or three-panel French in-swing doors
with the screen extension kit applied to the frame,
the Clad Brickmould option locks the frame into a
6-9/16" jamb depth. To achieve a 4-9/16" jamb
depth with these two options, a 2" filler must be
applied to the sheathing prior to mounting the door
in the wall. Without the Clad Brickmould option,
these doors can be installed in either a 4-9/16" or
a 6-9/16" wall depth.

Monarch three point locking system is available as an
option for extra security on 6/6, 6/8 and 7/0 heights
and four point system on 8/0 heights, in-swing and
outswing. The locking system offers a unique springloaded latch system with latch strikes that are two piece
reinforced roll cam strike plates. All three (or 4) latches
become three (or 4) dead bolts when secured with the
keyed lock or dead bolt latch. The “panic release” system
allows the occupant to immediately exit the dead bolt
locked door with a simple turn of the handle. French
doors with multipoint will have a multipoint hardware
assembly on the active panel engaging three (or 4) roller
strikes on the 1” thick t-astragal. The t-astragal mounted
to the inactive (dummy) panel, utilizes 7” brass head &
foot bolts (16” on 8/0 doors) to secure the inactive panel
to the head and sill of the frame, for easy accessibility.
Dummy handles are standard for French door assemblies
with the optional multipoint hardware. Handle sets and
hinges are available in Bright Brass, Antique Nickel, Oil
Rubbed Bronze, or Brushed Chrome (handle only)
finishes. The stile edge hardware of the multipoint is
standard as a Bright Brass finish, but can be special
ordered in other finishes.

HINGES
Hinges are available in Standard Brass Plated other
options available are Antique Nickel, Brushed
Chrome and Oil Rubbed Bronze on in-swing doors.
Outswing doors are only available with Stainless Steel
hinges with a non-removable pin.
Clad
Optional Clad frame members shall be select finger
jointed softwood pine treated with repellant preservative
in accordance with WDMA IS 4-94. Exterior frame
members shall be extruded aluminum clad up to .080 in
thickness, sealed at the corners and fastened with a
lexan corner key system and stainless steel screws.
Standard colors are White, Cream, Sand, Green, and
Bronze.

EXTERIOR TRIM
On standard wood frames Wood Brickmould is standard, additional options are,1 x 4, 1 x 6, 5/4 x 4, 1 x
4BB, 1 x 6BB, 5/4 x 4BB, PVC BM, PVC 1 x 4, PVC 1 x 6,
PVC 5/4 x 4, and PVC 1 x 4BB. All wood trim is factory
primed ready for the finish painting. On optional Clad
Frames, no trim is standard or upgrade to Clad Brickmould.
SCREENS
Screen sill tracks are standard on all multipanel door
systems with standard sills. Note screens are available
on 2 and 3 panel French, applications only with a clad
frame which requires an extension kit to house the
second screen. Screens are not available on French
doors with a primed frame. This kit provides sufficient
depth to allow for either a 4-9/16" or 6-9/16" installation. All units are available with the optional Clad
Brickmould system with a clad frame. Note that combining Clad Brickmould with a French Screen Kit locks the
unit into a 6-9/16" wall installation.

G RILLES (See right for details)
MULTIPOINT
Monarch three point locking system is available as an
option for extra security on 6/6, 6/8 and 7/0 heights
and four point system on 8/0 heights, in-swing and
outswing. The locking system offers a unique springloaded latch system with latch strikes that are two piece
reinforced roll cam strike plates. All three (or 4) latches
become three (or 4) dead bolts when secured with the
keyed lock or dead bolt latch. The “panic
release” system allows the occupant to immediately exit the dead bolt locked door with a
simple turn of the handle. French doors with
multipoint will have a multipoint hardware
assembly on the active panel engaging three
(or 4) roller strikes on the 1” thick t-astragal.
The t-astragal mounted to the inactive
(dummy) panel, utilizes 7” brass head & foot
bolts (16” on 8/0 doors) to secure the
inactive panel to the head and sill of the
frame, for easy accessibility. Dummy handles
are standard for French door assemblies with the
optional multipoint hardware. Handle sets and hinges
are available in Bright Brass, Antique Nickel, Oil
Rubbed Bronze, or Brushed Chrome (handle only)
finishes. The stile edge hardware of the multipoint is
standard as a Bright Brass finish, but can be special
ordered in other finishes.

SILL
Grilles are available and optional on all door units.
Monarch offers Full Surround Grilles available 3/4”
or 1-1/8”, in addition to “PDL” (Permanent Divided
Lite with Bronze finish GBG, available in 3/4” or 11/8”, “SDL” (Simulated Divided Lite, No GBG)

Sill shall be aluminum with an adjustable synthetic
threshold. Sill finish options include brass or bronze
anodized on standard
4-9/16" depth units.
Inswing doors with
larger jamb depths or french doors with screen kits
are not available with these finish options. An ADA
compliant “handicapped” sill is available in mill finish
only. No screen options are available with the
ADA sill. ADA sills are not available for 6-9/16" and
larger jamb depths.
