Study Guide Lecture and Lab Exam 3

1.

Lecture exam 3 covers Chapter 11 – endocrine system, Chapter 12 – Muscle Physiology, Chapter

13/14 Cardiovascular Physiology including Blood and Chapter 15 – Immune System.

2.

There will be 30 multiple choice, 10 match the term and 5 short answer questions. You will need a scantron 882E and 2 sheets of paper to answer exam.

under Physiology section. You will need to scroll down to get the lecture slides.

Lab exam 3 covers

Lab Report 3.4 – Cutaneous Receptors and Referred Pain, learn especially table 3.1 for cutaneous receptors, review sheet questions 1-14.

Lab Report 3.5 – Eyes and Vision, especially learn fig 3.21 problems of refraction and how they are corrected, review sheet questions 1-15.

Lab Report 3.6 – Ears, Cochlea and hearing, Review questions 1-9. Question 9 is about conduction deafness (otosclerosis is formation of single immovable bony mass of auditory ossicles) and sensory deafness. If sound vibrations cannot reach organ of Corti and cannot result in action potentials in hair cells of organ of Corti. It is conduction deafness. In sensory or neural deafness sound vibrations reach Organ of Corti but action potentials are blocked on way from organ of Corti to primary auditory cortex.

Lab Exercise 3.7 – Ears: Vestibular Apparatus – Balance and Equilibrium, learn parts of vestibular apparatus, define vestibular nystagmus, Lab Report questions 1-7 and 9.

Lab Report 3.8, review questions 1-4.

Lab Report 4.1 – Histology of Endocrine Glands, Lab Report questions 1-18.

Exercise 6.1 – Blood, learn definition of hematocrit, full form of MCV and MCHC, average values for hematocrit, and hemoglobin concentration, Review questions from 1-11 and 13.

Lab Report 6.3, assume data of one of samples tested by you to fill in data parts 1 and 2. Review questions 1, 4-7.

13.

Exercise 7.2 – Electrocardiogram (ECG), Learn the position of 3 electrodes with color code and charge of electrode, learn to label parts of ECG, Lab report questions 1-5 and 7-9.

14.

We will review any questions you like after the lecture exam 3.

15.

Lecture exam 3 starts at 2pm and lab exam 3 at 3:30pm.
