Façades Interior • SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION is an ideal material for façade-cladding (ventilated opaque spandrel panels, wall cladding, etc). It can be used to design surfaces with clean lines and to create attractive effects through the natural reflectance of the glass. • SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION can also be used in internal applications (wall panelling, furniture, laboratories etc) where exceptional resistance to humidity is required. • SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION can also be integrated in SGG CLIMALIT or SGG CLIMAPLUS double-glazed units. • In laminated form, SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION can be used for translucent spandrel panels, guarding, overhead glazing or footbridges, combining patterns with colour. Hojel City Center, Utrecht. Architecte : Van de Broek en Bakema • An SGG CLIMALIT or SGG CLIMAPLUS double-glazed unit comprising SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION affords several features, such as attractive aesthetics, good visibility from the inside to the outside, solar shading and screening against glare. The solar control performance of SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION varies with the density and colour of the patterns, and can be further enhanced by combining it with a glass such as SGG PARSOL, SGG ANTELIO, SGG COOLLITE, SGG COOL-LITE K , SK or ST. 4 • SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION/SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION • SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION can be used in doors, partitions, guarding, balustrades, shower screens and furniture (table tops, display cabinets, shelving, cupboard doors, etc). The glass allows the natural transmission of light and provides considerable added value in terms of aesthetics and safety. Street furniture • Thanks to the durability and safebreakage characteristics of the glass, SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION can be used in bus shelters, information panels, advertising boards, etc. Applications (continued) Nikon Head Office, Lijnden – Architect : Aukett Tramway Station Le Cardo, Nantes – Architect : Lemoine/Soullard The Criterion, London – Architect : Renton Howard Wood Levin Partnership 5 • SAINT-GOBAIN GLASS DESIGN Advantages Technological innovation at the service of a high added value material More environmentally friendly No heavy metals are used in the manufacture of SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION and SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION. We strongly recommend specifying the colour and type of SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION upon viewing large samples in their destined application and location on site, in order to achieve the required aesthetics. They should also be viewed with other glass types intended for the same elevation. NB : Colour-swatches are for indicative or comparative purposes only. Due to current printing techniques, an exact replication of enamelled glass cannot be achieved. The final choice of colour should be made after viewing actual glass samples. 7 • SAINT-GOBAIN GLASS DESIGN Description SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION and SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION are toughened glasses, as specified in standard EN 12150. • SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION is an opaque coloured glass, obtained by uniformly depositing a layer of enamel on one side of the glass. • SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION is a colourpatterned glass. It is produced by depositing an enamel pattern to one side of the glass, through a textile screen. The new enamels are of the same nature as the glass itself. They are lead-free, and contain no cadmium, lithium, mercury or chrome VI *. They are fired at very high temperature, a process which simultaneously toughens the glass. The enamels are completely integrated into the surface of the glass, giving the decoration exceptional durability and total stability over time. Please note : To obtain a uniform colour, we recommend using a single thickness of glass. Colours vary slightly according to the thickness of the base glass. SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION is available in opaque coloured patterns (SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION COLOR) and translucent coloured patterns (SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION OPALE). In addition to the standard range of colours featured, bespoke colours and colour-matching services are available. The colours of SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION COLOR are identical to the colours of SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION CLASSIC and METAL. Ask us for the colours of SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION OPALE. Please note : The enamel deposited by screen-printing is not as dense as that obtained by enamelling, hence the colours tend to be slightly less pronounced. The architect or designer must provide a sample of the required colour and/or graphic for colour-matching and production of the silk-screen. Samples will be submitted to the architect or designer prior to manufacture for approval. Once the specimen is accepted, the designer should order an additional sheet, as a reference for subsequent orders or for any potential replacements. SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION and SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION can be channel-glazed, incorporated into bolted glass assemblies or mechanically fixed. Glass-toglass and glass-to-metal contact must be avoided. When panels are installed adjacently, there must be a minimum clearance of 3 mm between each panel. Heat Soak Testing is recommended for façade-glazing. In order to preserve the original appearance of the glass, we recommend that SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION and SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION are glazed with the enamel or screen-print on face 2, facing the inside of the building. SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION can also be adhesively glazed (exterior structural sealant glazing) and used in ventilated or non-ventilated spandrel panels. SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION is not intended for viewing from an internal aspect and should always be located in front of a back-up wall or an opaque surface. For pale colours, it is advisable to place a uniformly coloured backing behind SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION. With adhesive glazing, it is also necessary to check that the adhesive is not visible through the glass. • SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION CONTRAST When calculating the mechanical strength of façade-glazing comprising enamelled textured glass, it is essen- 10 • SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION/SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION tial to take into account the nominal thickness of the base glass. For a uniform appearance, adjacent panes of SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION CONTRAST should all be cut and glazed in the same pattern direction of the glass, since all textured glasses have a preferred viewing side and pattern direction. SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION and SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION in double-glazed units must be installed in accordance with current national regulations and standards. • Maintenance To maintain their appearance, SGG EMALIT EVOLUTION and SGG SERALIT EVOLUTION must be cleaned regularly with neutral, non-abrasive cleaning agents.
