VOCA/SASA VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: 30 hours per week including benefits Works with Clinical Director who is VOCA/SASA Program Lead responsible for grant compliance, outcomes, and reports. Direct report to Kid’s Place Department Head who is responsible Kid’s Place employee’s, interns, and volunteers. Leader, proactive, self-directed, takes direction. Responsible to further develop, implement, and supervise the volunteer program to provide increased access to supportive services for child victims that are primary/secondary victims. Duty Synopsis: 1. Establish and maintain key contacts within the community to conduct presentations regarding volunteer opportunities 2. Recruit volunteers through social media and other related activities. 3. Screen, interview and call references on volunteers to ensure a good fit to volunteer with victims. 4. Ensure that volunteers have completed Background Criminal Investigations and all mandatory paperwork. 5. Provide volunteers with on-going training; according to Crisis/Respite Nursery (CRN) guidelines. 6. Maintain records on all volunteers. 7. Coordinate with the Kid’s Place and VOCA/SASA program leads or funded staff to identify the need and number of volunteers to assist in victim services and ensure appropriate ratio of adult supervision per child. 8. Educate staff on working effectively with volunteers, adhering strictly to Kid’s Place guidelines and act as a liaison between volunteers and staff. 9. Model for and supervise volunteers providing direct services to child victims that are primary/secondary victims. 10. Retain volunteers by establishing their role and how they contribute to the direct support of victims and through weekly communication to answer questions and offer support. 11. Conduct volunteer evaluations to assess performance, reinforce/update training, and identify areas of growth. 12. Develop and implement a volunteer recognition/appreciation program. 13. Coordinate service projects and donation drives to gather and assemble items for victim care kits and items needed by therapists to provide treatment for victims of crime. 14. Attend Kid’s Place and organization staff meetings. 15. Develop and maintain the Inventory Log for Victim Care Kits 16. Complete required reports (i.e., VOCA Quarterly, Volunteer Hours). 17. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Understanding of victims’ needs. 2. Annual clearance of a Background Criminal Investigation 3. Detail oriented. 4. Excellent communication skills. 5. Leadership and time management skills. 6. Engaging and organized. 7. Computer skills (Word, Excel, social media, etc.). 8. Six months of child care experience. 7 7 16
