Safety assured
Product safety is integral to the design of all Eaton low
voltage system products. Extensive use of substantial
rigid barriers constructed from either insulated or
metallic components ensures the safety of all installers,
operators and maintainers of our products.
Internal Arc-fault management
Specifiers and users of low voltage power switchgear assemblies
are becoming increasingly aware of the hazards associated
with internal arc-flash faults. The ferocity of an arc-flash is such
that damage to the assembly and the emission of personnel
threatening arcing gasses to the surrounding area may occur
within as little as 20 milli-seconds. Both personnel and plant
may be at risk from such arc-flash faults. Eaton has developed
two market leading solutions to address this problem, both
of which have been designed to not only protect personnel
but also to ensure that assemblies remain suitable for use:
Arcon
Arcon arc-flash fault management
units may be incorporated
in all Eaton LVS assemblies.
Arcon is a patented product
developed by Eaton to ensure
that any arc-flash fault which
may occur is extinguished
within 2 milli-seconds.
This extremely high speed of operation ensures not only
personnel safety but also that the assembly may be returned
to full service after minimal maintenance and testing.
