Company Profile
Who we are
MEGARA RESINS (Anastassios Fanis S.A.) is a manufacturer of resins for the Paint, Adhesive, Paper and Construction Industry.
The company was established in 1961 by Anastassios Fanis and has initially functioned as a unit which produced gun rosin and
turpentine from Greek crude gum.
During the 1970’s, the company began producing paper size for the paper mill industry. A decade later, MEGARA RESINS
started the production of specialties from gum rosin such as esters, maleic resins, rosin modified, phenolics and amino resins for
the paper industry.
The production of alkyd and acrylic resins as well as new improved gum rosin products and specialties for the concrete and pulp
industry flourished during the 90’s.
In the beggining of 2001, the company started the production of unsaturated polyesters for composites as well as the production
of water based dispersions for the paint and adhesives industry.
Our new range of products
In 2011 the company took the strategic decision to expand its range of activities in the field of polyester resins for powder
coatings. Putting together a highly experienced and skilful team of chemists and chemical engineers and investing in a modern, fully
automated production unit, the company aims at becoming a long-term partner and supplier of choice for the powder coating
companies around the world. Offering a complete product portfolio, our company is in a position to fully cover the needs of our
customers ranging from standard products to special applications for niche market segments.
Equipped with state of the art instruments, our in-house Research & Development team will continually refine our binder
technologies to meet the ever-evolving demands of the powder coating market. As our technologies continue to improve, so do the
economic returns for our partners.
Why Megara Resins?
Because having confidence in the company with which you're partnering is crucial. You need to feel secure about the product or
service you're purchasing. You need to know that the company has a solid history and will be around next week, next month, next
year. Part of that confidence comes from knowing about a company's financial stability.
Some of the benefits working with our company include:
• Longevity - When a company's been in business for an extended period of time, it gives you confidence that it will continue to
be around. You invest a lot of time building relationships with suppliers. You don't want to be retraining new vendors on your needs
and requirements often.
• Full Service - A financially secure company doesn't cut corners. Its leaders and employees continually look for and find ways to
be more efficient, thus there's no need to reduce hours, personnel, or services to save expenses.
• Good Business Ethics - A company that's been in business for many years is able to do so because it treats its customers well
and fairly. If it didn't, few people would want to work with or for that company.
• Reinvestment - When profits are reinvested in the organization, aspects of the business such as product quality, customer
service, and order accuracy are maintained and improved upon.
• Security of Supply - During challenging economic periods, a financially stable company is better prepared for continued success.
That company is far less likely to experience stock shortages, production shutdowns, and payment problems.
Our Mission
In an increasingly competitive marketplace where customers are harder to win and keep, Megara Resins recognizes that
exemplary customer service is the only way to truly succeed. As we are an extensions of our customers’ operation, our staff have, at all
times, to be respectful of the hard work and dedication that has gone into building our customers business and act accordingly. If we
are successful in carrying this out, everyone will enjoy the benefits; you (our customer), the end user (your customer) and ourselves.

Glossary
Ratio
The recommended weight ratio between the polyester resin (PE) and the hardener.
Acid value (mg KOH/g)
The amount of KOH (mg) necessary to neutralize the acidic groups in 1 g of polyester resin.
Acid value is measured according to ASTM D 1613.
Hydroxyl value (mg KOH/g)
The amount of KOH (mg), equivalent to the hydroxyl content of 1 g of polyester resin.
Hydroxyl value is measured according to ASTM E 222.
Viscosity, Poise 200oC
The viscosity of the resin is measured by a Brookfield CAP 2000 Viscometer at 200oC.
Viscosity is measured according to ASTM D 4287.
Glass Transition Temperature (oC)
Determined by differential scanning calorimetry at a heating rate of 10 oC/min (2nd ramp).
Defined as the temperature at the inflection point of the calorimetric curve.
Glass Transition Temperature is measured according to ASTM D 3418.
Cure cycle (min/oC)
The necessary time (min) to fully cure the system at the specified temperature (oC).
