have compiled the required information on the doors and decided on the details that
influence the doors’ appearance in advance. You can find more information in our
brochure and on our Web site to aid in picking the doors that are right for you. In the
online shop, you can find the price of each door in real time when making your choice.

TAKE MEASUREMENTS
Our doors are always sold and delivered as door+frame sets. Because of this, the frame dimensions that
fit the opening should be provided, not the door dimensions. Piklas will dimension the door to suit the
frame measurements you provide. Measure the opening at several points, in order to make sure you have
the correct measurements. An insulation gap should be subtracted from the opening measurements
(Piklas recommends that a 10–15 mm gap be left on each side of the door). For example, if the opening in
the wall measures 1,010 × 2,310 mm, you should deduct insulation gaps (2 × 10 mm from the width, 2 ×
10 mm from the height) on each side to get the correct frame measurements: 990 × 2,290 mm. If you are
ordering a new door to replace an old one, let us know the dimensions of the old door frame.

MEASURE THE FRAME DEPTH

Frame depth refers to the width of the frame board. The thickness of the wall determines the width of the
frame board. The door’s frame board must be narrower than the wall. In a renovation project, the new
frame should be as similar in depth to the previous frame as possible. (Note that the frame depth within a
building may vary.)
DECIDE ON THE DOOR’S SWING DIRECTION AND HANDING
Left-handed or right-handed: As exterior doors open outward, their handing is determined by looking at
them from the outside. When deciding on the door’s handing, consider the most natural access route to
the door and how much space there is for the door to open. Hinges are on the right side.
