Improving Stockwell Cross: weekend works planned from
23 January 2016
As you may know, we are delivering a series of improvements to the
junction around Stockwell to make cycling and walking around the area
safer and more convenient.

The project is progressing well and I am now writing with information about upcoming
changes in the area, which will necessitate weekend works from 23 January.

We will be making improvements to traffic islands and signals around the area at the
following times and locations:

Vehicular access will be maintained at all times during these works, although lane
closures will apply. Please plan ahead and allow more time for your journeys through the
area.

South Lambeth Road pedestrian crossing – temporary closure
From mid-February, the pedestrian crossing between South Lambeth Road and Clapham
Road (next to the Memorial Garden) will be closed while works are completed in this
area.
Alternative crossing points will be clearly signposted and a new staggered crossing will be
installed in May 2016.
Working hours
As the well as the specific dates and times outlined above, other works will be
continuing in the area as normal on Mondays to Saturdays between 08:00 and 18:00.
Some Sunday working may also be required to complete the scheme as quickly as
possible.
We are working hard to keep disruption to a minimum, but apologise in advance for the
inconvenience and thank you for your patience while the improvements are made.
