The life cycle of the Smile product is composed of 4 stages:

Current (12 months long)

Sustained (12 months long)
•
Retired (6 months long)
•
and End Of Life (EOL)
The duration of these stages can vary from version to version to meet the market demand.
The Smile support policy is N-1 (Active and Sustained).

Software ve rsion numbe rs
The Smile software version number is composed of three numbers: (eg. 2.4.0)
•
the major software version number (eg: 3.x.x)
•
the minor software version number (eg: x.2.x)
•
the maintenance software version number (eg: x.x.1)
Prior to Smile 2.4.0, the Smile 2 dongle allowed you to run all the Smile 2 software up to release 2.3.6
The maintenance release was mentioned by a letter (eg: 2.3.6b)
Since the Smile 2.4.0 the new ‘Smile license certificate’ has been introduced. The maintenance release is
provided by the last number of the software version number.
Note that with a Smile Support Agreement you will get for free:
- the Maintenance software upgrade (bug fixing): eg. from 3.2.3 to 3.2.4
