To allow for effective communication between Quantum Education Group and yourself, we have included practices, procedures and policies that you should be aware of during your studies. In addition, any completed unit standards will not be reported to NZQA and legal action may also be taken to recover the overdue amount. QUANTUM EDUCATION GROUP STUDENT HANDBOOK 9 Refund policy OUR REFUND POLICY IS AS FOLLOWS: ALL COURSES LESS THAN 3 MONTHS DURATION For courses up to and including 4 weeks 6 days For courses with a duration between 5 weeks and 12 weeks, 6 days If we cancel the course If you withdraw before the start of the course, or within the first two days: You are entitled to a minimum of 50% of any payments made by you. However if you have only paid for two days, we may keep the full amount. If you withdraw after the first two days: Nil refund. If you withdraw before the start of the course, or within the first five days: You are entitled to a minimum of 75% of any payments made by you. If you withdraw after the first five days: Nil refund. You are entitled to a pro rata* refund of the fee paid by you, less the cost of any textbooks, external examinations or other materials supplied to you. ALL COURSES OF 3 MONTHS DURATION OR MORE If you withdraw on or before the 8th day of the course start date We will make a refund equal to the full amount paid, less $500 or 10% of the course fees (whichever is the lesser). If you withdraw after the 8th day of the course start date or are expelled from the course due to non-attendance or serious breach of the rules Nil refund. If we cancel the course You are entitled to a pro rata* refund of the fee paid by you, less the cost of any textbooks, external examinations or other materials supplied to you. FEE PROTECTION POLICY NZQA registered education providers in New Zealand are required to offer protection to all of their students against the default of the education provider, in respect of students’ course fees that are paid to them in advance. All student fees will be paid to the Public Trust and will be administered by an independent trustee. Public Trust will pay fees to Quantum Education in accordance with a Payment Schedule authorised by the student. * A pro rata fee refund is calculated according to the following formula: Course Fee (less cost of materials supplied to you) divided by Length of Course (in weeks) multiplied by Time Remaining on Course (in weeks) equals Refund Paid if course is cancelled by us. Please note that all withdrawals must be received in writing on or before the 8th day after commencement of the course. Students who fall behind with their study programme but are clearly making a concerted effort to work with their Tutor to reach agreed goals will continue to receive full and ongoing support. In most cases these students will also receive a study extension to help them complete their course if required. Students who fail a practical assessment or verification day are entitled to one free re-sit. Application must be made to the Centre Manager. There may be a fee for any re-sits after the first. Resit Fee Exemptions A student will only be exempt from the resit fees if: >> they are ill on the day of the assessment >> they are attending the funeral or tangi of an immediate relative >> an immediate family member is hospitalized In all cases above, contact must be made with reception to inform them why they are unable to attend.
