Session 2: Achieving Food Security in Egypt
Egypt is facing a looming food security crisis as reflected in a large negative balance in food trade. This is aggravated by the growing scarcity of
water resources. In addition, there is evidence of misuse of food resources and subsidies. This session will define national food security, discuss
the seriousness of the threat of food insecurity and explore strategies to avert it over the next 5 years. More details are provided in an ENCC
working paper that will soon be uploaded on ENCC’s website.
