ZNH Series Horns
▶ Pre‑wire the base and test the circuit wiring before the
walls are covered
▶ Mount to walls or ceiling using the same universal base
▶ Select continuous or temporal (Code 3) horn tones and
90 dBA or 95 dBA
▶ Select 12 V or 24 V filtered DC (VDC) or unfiltered
Full‑Wave‑Rectified (VRMS) input voltage
The Cooper Wheelock ZNH Series Horns provide a
selectable continuous or Code 3 horn tone when connected
directly to the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP). They also
provide a synchronized Code 3 horn tone when used with
an FACP that incorporates the Wheelock synchronization
protocol, a Wheelock Synchronization Module, or the
Wheelock Power Supply. The ZNH Horns can be field set for
high (HI) or low (LO) dBA sound output.
The ZNH Horns are designed for use with either 12 V or 24 V
filtered DC (VDC) or unfiltered Full‑Wave‑Rectified (Vrms)
input voltage. All inputs are polarized for compatibility with
standard reverse polarity supervision of circuit wiring by an
FACP.
The ZNH Series Horns, like all Cooper Wheelock Z Series
appliances, are designed for easy installation. The universal
two-wire base allows a continuity check of the entire NAC
circuit before any appliances are attached and allows the
appliances to be installed after all finish work has been
completed. The appliances simply snap onto the universal
bases.

D7024 becomes an addressable fire alarm control panel
(FACP). The ZNH Horns automatically adjust for 24 V
operation.

For synchronization, use the SM or DSM modules with
these control panels and set the synchronization module for
24 VDC operation.

Mounting Considerations
The ZNH Horns snap onto the pre-installed ZBASE Two-wire
Base. The ZBASE Two-wire Base flush mounts on singlegang, double-gang, 4 in. square, 4 in. octal, and 3.5 in. octal
back boxes.

The wiring terminals on the ZBASE Two-wire Base accept
two appliance wires with diameters between 12 AWG
(2.3 mm) and 18 AWG (1.2 mm) at each terminal.
