Curriculum Advisory Committee (CAC) is an advisory and
recommending body reporting to the Head of the Department (HOD)
and the Department Board on academic matters since 2005.
The tasks include developing Learning Outcomes (LOs) and Program
Outcomes (POs) under the Washing Accord scheme to which IIUM is a
signatory. The LOs and POs at the end of a semester are linked to the
course and program objectives using an evaluation excel file developed
for this purpose and the results are filed as records for the time when
curriculum is audited, adopted, implemented.
The committee is charged with the task of analyzing the course
Learning Outcomes (LOs) and Program Outcomes (POs) to assess on
the academic achievements and to inform the module instructor as part
of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process for further
improvement. Other tasks of CAC are including evaluating and
deciding on transferring and awarding of credits during inter-university
migration of students.
Further, the CAC under my chair has been an extensive help on
occasions such as the accreditation of degree programs, during the
internal/external examiners’ visits, and other such events whenever
deemed necessary under the department and faculty policy.
The committee shall review evaluation materials from the curriculum
audit process by the Malaysian accreditation and audit bodies (SIRIM,
EAC) when and as recommended by the Deputy Dean on academics.

Coordinator
As a departmental project coordinator, my main contribution has been
that the offering, execution and evaluation of undergraduate projects,
are carried out on schedule similar to any other course module in a
given semester calendar. Two great benefits achieved, are: (i)
addressing remedial measures for issues concerning timely submission
of project results, thus making inter-semester intermissions more
seamless, and (ii) transforming the undergraduate project from being a
teach-student arrangement to that of a departmental pursuit.
As a member of the Kulliyyah’s committee se up for the purpose, I
remained actively involved in producing guidelines for categorization,
offering, and evaluation of undergraduate projects. That helped in
establishing the academic importance of undergraduate projects as more
enjoyable and exciting opportunities for students.
Another academic contribution worth recorded is his effort for the
establishment of undergraduate project laboratory, which ultimately
culminated in the form of two room allocations, one each for sisters and
brothers. Such allocation facilitated students working on their projects
in the late hours of a working day alongside even being able working at
the week ends.

I have been the coordinator of Wireless Communication and Signal
Processing research group since the induction of hierarchical structures
for research groups in this Kulliyyah in 2004. Since then the group has
been involved in R&D activities and producing their work on platforms
such as conferences, exhibition, and publications in journals. Alongside,
the group has been conducting short courses and training work shops on
MATLAB and PIC Programming for engineers. The group is credited
with developing a complete master program for M Sc in Electronic in
running, a program that has been attracting an ever increasing number
of international students every year since 2006.
During my contractual stay with this International Islamic University
Malaysia, I have helped setting up a postgraduate project laboratory to
cope with the increasing number of graduate students; prepared
feasibility and layout plans for furnishing and operating this laboratory.
The laboratory has been maintained as a tidy and well maintained quite
corner for our research students since its operation in 2005. A process is
worked out and put in place for issuing and receiving door keys. This is
done up to the satisfaction of security standards of the university such
that a single event of breach has not been reported thus far. Further, he
remained vigilant to an ever increasing number of PG students by
suggesting anticipatory extension planning as and when necessary.
