FT This Weeks Photos Photo By: Sloane Andrews Photo By: Shellie Keegan Strawser’s Picks An Opinion Column Top Five Tram Towers Five Tower Five is awesome for multiple reasons. It’s where you get your first views of Corbet’s Couloir and S & S from the Tram. While going over Tower Five, you get a little extra swing on the right days. This gives you the feeling that “it’s on” right before you get to the top and click in to shred the 4,139 vertical feet to the bottom. Three Tower Three gives you an amazing view of the Tower Three Chute, which offers great skiing on any given day given thanks to its northern aspect. Four Tower Four is in the heart of the closed area. From this point you can see the Cirque and other great lines that offer a fun ski during storm cycles. The Laramie cliffs will give anyone a sense that Jackson is steep and deep. One Tower One is where it all begins. You can get a bird’s eye view of the Gondola, Teewinot, High Ropes Course, and just about anything else you would want to see from the base area. Two From Tower Two you not only get to see the Thunder lift, but you may also get to see a dance party if you are around this area anytime after 3:45 p.m. It’s a must for a day in the life of a lift operator. By: David Strawser FT Ambassador Club Happy March! As we begin our last month of the season (crazy!), it is important to remember that guests who visit now deserve the same level of customer service as the guests who visited us at the start of the season. In honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday (March 2), here are some quotes that relate to being an ambassador (and hopefully put a smile on your face) “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” Because you care, things improve every day and every season. If there are changes you would like to see for yourself, your work area or JHMR, now is the time to take action. “From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere.” Try to see the positive in every situation and interaction. “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory.” We Create Memories. “Today I shall behave, as if this is the day I will be remembered.” Always put your best foot forward “You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!” Enjoy your job and our beautiful “office” every day “A person’s a person, no matter how small.” Respect for others is a fundamental principle of being an ambassador. Please always respect everyone no matter their size, shape, culture, and differences. “Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.” FT Ambassador Club Please help us congratulate our Ambassador Club members from December/January in recognition of their demonstration of and commitment to the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s four focus goals – Always an Ambassador, Be Safe, Be Green and Have Fun! Virginia Beach, VA. How long have you worked for JHMR? This is my fifth season. Favorite thing about your job? Getting to be outdoors and working iwth awesome co-workers. Makes the job easier. Favorite run at JHMR? Grebull on a powder day or Sun Dog for hot laps. Most memorable moment at JHMR? First time in Corbet’s with encouragement from Wade of Tram Maintenance. “Just do it!” What would you be doing if you weren’t working at JHMR? Figuring out how to maximize time spent involved in a heli-ski operation. If there was a movie made about life at Groups & Conference Services what would it be titled, and who would play you? Discount Hour: The story of a customer’s fight to regain control of the group estore. I would play the veiled savior through vague messages left on the customer’s voicemail. I would be voiced by Larry David. What is in your pocket? Debit card, generic chap stick. Joselin Carranza: Group and Conference Services Coordinator Where are you from? I am from a little town on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada. Lone Pine is located south of Mammoth and Bishop and is home to Mount Whitney (tallest mountain in the 50 states at 14,505). How long have you worked for JHMR? This is my second season with JHMR, but my first season in Group and Conference Services. Favorite thing about your job? Getting to work and live in such a beatiful area, but also working personally with guests planning banquets. Favorite run at JHMR? Bivouac is one of my favorite runs on the mountain. I spent some time skiing in Mammoth when I was younger and did not start skiing again unti I came to work here, so I’m still working on it! Most memorable moment at JHMR? One of the most memorable moments this season was seeing everyone again at the beginning of the season, but also getting out and skiing with friends. What would you be doing if you weren’t working at JHMR? Traveling or working for a wilderness or other youth program. If there was a movie made about life at Groups & Conference Services what would it be titled, and who would play you? I think Group Services would be more of a sitcom, mostly normal, but also suprisingly interesting and entertaining. What is in your pocket? Nothing.
