DEFINITIONS
Activity: A discrete part of a project that can be identified for planning, scheduling, monitoring,
and controlling the construction project. Activities included in a construction schedule consume
time and resources.

Critical ActiviÇ: An activity on the critical path that must start and finish on the planned
early slart and finish times.
Predecessor Activity: An activity that precedes another activity in the network.
Successor Activity: An activity that follows another activity in the network.
Cost Loading: The allocation of the schedule of values for the completion of an activity as
scheduled. The sum of costs for all activities must equal the total Contract Sum unless
otherwise approved by Architect,

CPM: Critical path method, which is a method of planning and scheduling a construction project
where activities are arranged based on activity relationships. Network calculations determine
when activities can be performed and the critical path of Project.
Critical Path: The longest connected chain of interdependent activities through the network
schedule that establishes the minimum overall Project duration and contains no float.

Float The measure of leeway

Resource Loading: The allocation of manpower and equipment necessary for the completion of

ln the event that progress of the Work is delayed by adverse weather conditions, the
Contractor shall notify the Architect at the end ol each month in which delay occurs. lf
the number of days exceeds the number of days listed, the Contractor may submit a
claim for an extension of Contract Time. Adverse weather delay may only be claimed
until the building is dried in. Adverse weather is defined as the occurrence of one or
more of the followíng conditions which prevents exterior construction activity or access to
the site within one 24-hour period and prevents work on the project for fifty percent (50%)
or more of the Contractor's scheduled work day.

General Submittal Procedure Requirements: Prepare and submit submittals required by
individual Specification Sections. Types of submittals are indicated in individual Specification

Approval Stamp: Stamp each submittalwith a uniform, approval stamp. lnclude Project name
and location, Specification Section title and number, name of reviewer, date of Contractor's
approval, and statement certifying that submittal has been reviewed, checked, and approved for
compliance with the Conlract Documents.
3.2
ARCHITECT'S ACTION
A.
Action Submittals: Architect will review each submittal, make marks to indicate corrections or
revisions required, and return it. Architect will stamp each submittal with an action stamp and
will mark stamp appropriately to indicate action, as follows:
1. Reviewed: When Architect marks a submittal "Reviewed", the Work covered by the
submittal may proceed provided it complies with the requirements of the Contract
Documents, Final payment depends upon that compliance.
2. Furnish as Corrected: When lhe Architect marks the submittal "Furnish as Corrected",
the Work covered by the submittal may proceed provide it complies with notations or
corrections on the submittal and requirements of the Contract Documenls. Final payment
depends upon that compliance.
3. Revise and Resubmit: When the Architect marks a submittal "Revise and Resubmit',
"Rejected", or "submit Specified ltemo, do not proceed with Work covered by the
submittal, including purchasing, fabrication, delivery, or other activity. Revise or prepare
a new submittal according to the notations; resubmit without delay. Repeat if necessary
to obtain different action mark. Do not use, or allow others to use, submittals marked
osubmit Specified ltem" at the Project Site or
"Revise and Resubmit", "Rejected", or
elsewhere where Work is in progress.
