If the door swings both ways, we could reverse the particle flow through the gate. Venkman: How? Spengler: We'll cross the streams. Venkman: Excuse me, you said crossing the streams was bad. Stanz: Cross the streams... Venkman: You're gonna endanger us, … Spengler: Not necessarily. There's definitely a very slim chance we'll survive. [team ponders] Venkman: I love this plan! I'm excited to be a part of it. Let's do it! C op yr i g h t © 2 0 1 3 , S A S I n s t i t u t e I n c . A l l r i g h t s r es er v e d . Secure SAS libraries and custom views set up by country/region. Integrated AMO data and pivots into our FM Monthly Report Books. We now have all global Finance Managers and Analysts across all countries doing this each month themselves. Remember … the old process would have been they go to their contracts manager to get revenue details (summarized or not). Once summarized & analyzed, the information was typed into the workbooks. Benefits: Seamless integration, self-sufficient, and efficient. C op yr i g h t © 2 0 1 3 , S A S I n s t i t u t e I n c . A l l r i g h t s r es er v e d . EXAMPLE 1 REVENUE ANALYSIS Challenge – Quick, consistent, and self-sufficient revenue analysis yielding informative answers to the reasons behind YTD revenue growth or decline. SAS has customers in 135 countries totaling more than 65,000 sites installations. SAS Global Finance takes advantage of SAS® FM for consistent consolidation and reporting. Monthly Report Books require meaningful explanations behind the YTD Variance of each account in the P&L (by organization). × However the process to identify the reasons behind a country’s YTD revenue growth and/or decline varied greatly by country and analyst. C op yr i g h t © 2 0 1 3 , S A S I n s t i t u t e I n c . A l l r i g h t s r es er v e d . × The data needed for this analysis is not part of our SAS® FM data mart. × Web-based query tools are available, but have limitations (data, volume, security, expertise). × Maintenance increased (with files in disparate locations across SAS). × More expertise, time, and effort required. EXAMPLE 1 CHALLENGE – MONTHLY REPORTING & ANALYSIS CYCLES REVISED Challenge 1 – Revenue Analysis: Self-sufficient, quick, and consistent revenue analysis yielding informative answers to the reasons behind YTD revenue growth or decline. Challenge 2– Seamless integration between SAS® FM report books and the analysis required to provide informative answers to the reasons behind YTD revenue growth or decline. SAS Finance Analysts needed a comprehensive ‘Integrated Monthly Report Book’ that combines the monthly SAS® FM reporting with ‘other’ data and/or analysis from outside of SAS® FM (all into the same report book); thereby enabling analysts to consistently and accurately produce their financial reports …. all in one location and in a timely and efficient manner. SAS® AMO AND FM BENEFITS • Taking advantage of Add-In for Microsoft Office (AMO) while in SAS/FM allows us to cross different streams of data across the SAS enterprise (or outside the enterprise). • Benefits of AMO and SAS FM: SAS® AMO is available with SAS® FM (Note ~ AMO Setup is FM version dependent). Same interface - SAS/FM and AMO can surface data via MS Excel. Integrates different data streams into FM Workbooks. • Seamless access to different SAS data sources across the enterprise (Financial, Revenue, Customer, Cancellation, HR Data, etc.). Integrate different reports: Both FM-powered reports and AMO-powered reports can co-exist in the same workbook and/or spreadsheet. AMO-powered data, reports, and pivot tables are refreshed easily: • There is no need to rebuild queries to refresh the data. • Just click Refresh (or automate upon opening the workbook). The new data will automatically load. • Helps eliminate tedious work: Exports, copy & paste exercises, typing, file maintenance, etc. each month • • • • • C op yr i g h t © 2 0 1 3 , S A S I n s t i t u t e I n c .
