JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title Learning and Teaching Coach Salary Points 34 to 36 on the Common Pay Scale Responsible to Director of Quality Responsible for: No direct responsibility for staff Job Purpose: As a Learning and Teaching Coach, you will be responsible for supporting teaching staff individually, in teams and cross College to improve and achieve consistently good and outstanding Learning and Teaching practice Main Duties and Responsibilities 1. To work directly with teachers and support a culture of openness and ambition. 2. Use coaching methods, to develop reflective practice in others and encouraging the use of new learning strategies. 3. To team teach/demonstrate techniques/develop LTA masterclasses. 4. To monitor and evaluate performance which is recorded in coaching/reflective logs. These logs may be used as part of the performance management of staff by line managers and QPD. 5. Identify and develop links across College to peer observe others. 6. Support cross College improvement strategies e.g. 16-18 Level 2 provision, embedding Maths and English. 7. Conduct supportive observations and action plan as required. 8. Play an active role in the teaching, learning and assessment quality assurance process as appropriate and when required. 9. Work alongside teachers to support the development of Moodle and effective use of ILT into teaching practice. 10. Attend external events, take part in peer review and be proactive in developing own continuous professional development. 11. Offer a ‘specialism’ which can be deployed cross College, e.g. Equality and Diversity, behaviour management, assessment feedback. 12. Plan and lead sessions on teaching, learning and assessment on Staff Development days, identified team training and specific topics. Page 1 of 3 13. To act as Learning Coach in micro teach sessions as part of the College’s recruitment process as appropriate. 14. To identify areas of good practice and develop and share resources through the staff intranet and by attending team meetings. 15. Develop, promote and involve teaching staff in creative initiatives to share good practice. 16. To work closely with the Director of Quality and provide regular updates and reports on progress against agreed targets and actions. General Duties: The postholder will be required to undertake other duties as directed by the Principal (or his/her delegated representative) appropriate to the administration of the College and within the abilities of the postholder.
