The Waukegan Park District’s Cultural Arts Division is celebrating
the Japanese Star Festival – Tanabata
This festival takes place on the 7th day of the 7th month of the
year, when according to legend, two stars, Altair and Vega, usually
separated from each other by the Milky Way, are able to meet.
Join us in the 8th annual celebration of Tanabata. Make a wish for
clear weather as you attach your personal wish or haiku poem for
the upcoming year to the “wishing tree” otherwise, Altair and Vega
cannot meet.
Registration is not required but you may call 847-360-4740 for
further details or if you need an accommodation for this special
event offered at the Bowen Heritage Circle.
New this year! Arts Park Plus
Beginning in June, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
the Cultural Arts van will be parking at different parks
throughout the Waukegan Park District. The van will arrive at
10am or 6pm and will bring a project to your neighborhood.
In the event of rain, the ARTS PARK will be cancelled.
