Ch Westobri Crackerjack (AI), Ch Bradorla Image Maker and Junior Handler Tahlia Olajos

What a sensational end to 2015 for CH Westobri Crackerjack (AI), CH Bradorla Image

Maker and junior handler Tahlia Olajos.

Captain Jack was awarded Best in Group and then went on to receive Best in Show under

Judge Ms S Tassan (Q), and Tahlia took Maxi all the way through to Runner Up to Best in

Group and Open in Show under Judge Mrs S Shrigley (T)!!! Tahlia has become a keen and competent junior handler this year, along with our other juniors. I am so happy and proud of what a lovely kind handler she is becoming under Kayla Heenan’s super training.

I am so grateful to Westobri Kennel’s Jill O’Brien for entrusting Captain Jack to me. Dreams do come true and magic does happen. I cannot imagine my life without white hair on everything…I’m dreaming of a white Christmas :)

.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO MEMBERS

Could members please not exercise their dogs on the training grounds. Instead, we encourage members to exercise dogs in the enclosed area immediately outside the front gate, otherwise known as the members car park

President’s Report

Vol. 43.6 Dec 15 / Jan 16

As 2015 draws to a close, and the final show for the year has been held, it is time to reflect upon the year, our achievements and our losses, both personal and within our chosen sport.

This year has been a difficult year for Council, in trying to bring back a healthy balance to the budget, to get the best deal for our members and trying to deal with issues caused by computers, printers and the loss of our Administrator at very short notice.

We are pleased to welcome Kayla Heenan as our new Administrator. Kayla has a very good understanding of the workings of the Dog World, an excellent grasp of ANKC Rules and DogsNT rules as well as her expertise with Junior Hadlers.

We are aware that some of you have been waiting some time for your paperwork to be processed, and we apologise for the delay.

Kayla has resigned her position as a Councillor for Dogs NT and we welcome Marlene Watt onto the position of Councillor, to fill Kayla's spot. I am sure that most of you will know that Marlene has been involved with the SA and NT Dog world for more years than she likes to remember, as well Marlene has worked tirelessly for Litchfield Council and brings with her a wealth of knowledge from within the Dog World as well as from an Administrative role within the Shire

Council.

This brings me to the next point, being the AGM and Council elections in 2016. You will find information elsewhere in the magazine, asking for nominations for Council and a request to send along your resume for printing in the February/March magazine.

Being on Dogs NT Council is a wonderful opportunity for dog people to have a say in how we run our organisation. Throughout the year Council meets monthly to deal with ay to day issues of running such an Organisation, plus extra meetings pertaining to shows, trials, ANKC issues etc etc. All in all, Councillors give up a lot of their spare time to attend to matters that affect you, the members.

I invite all of you, experienced or not, to consider nominating for a position on Council, in order to give a little back to the Sport that we all enjoy. For those that are thinking they can't possibly contribute, please be assured that there are people on Council with plenty of experience who would only be too happy to mentor you.

I recently attended the ANKC Confrence in Melbourne, please see a summary of that meeting elsewhere in this magazine. It was the NT that was instrumental in having the Neuter Classes introduced a number of years ago, and it is pleasing to see that next year, Neuter Champions can now compete for the title of Grand Champion. There are a number of issues included in this summary that pertain to you as a member of Dogs NT, and I encourage you to read the summary of minutes.

As this is the last magazine before Christmas I would like to wish you, our Members, our Council, our Clubs Officials and all who work so hard to keep our sport alive and well in the Northern

Territory, a very Merry Christmas and a Joyful New Year, I look forward to seeing you all in

2016. Please remember to travel safe and be road wise, especially over the festive season.
