Sophia Antipolis – France, September 15th 2016: Silicon Mobility announced today the introduction of
OLEA® T222, its new breakthrough solution dedicated for hybrid and electric powertrain control.
OLEA® T222 is a new member of the OLEA® family, the 1st ever automotive microcontrollers with
embedded, robust and secured programmable logic. OLEA® T222 has been designed to get the best of
all the electric machines in the heart of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) and Electric Vehicles (EV). OLEA®
T222 flexibility, hard-real time parallel processing and safe architecture makes it a perfect fit to control
all flavors of hybridization, micro, mild or full, including Integrated Belt Starter Generator (i-BSG),
Crankshaft Motor driven Generator (CMG), Gearbox Motor driven Generator (GMG), in wheel Motor or
in axle Motor, DC/DC converter, as well as full Electric powertrains.
Furthermore, OLEA® T222 technologies and feature set address other applications and make it the ideal
controller for Battery Management System (BMS), Exhaust or Selective Catalytic Reduction systems
(SCR), or even conventional Internal Combustion Engine. Applications such Damping Control for Chassis
will also get the full benefits of OLEA® T222.
Car electrification for all
OLEA® T222 directly contributes to vehicles CO2 emission reductions by enabling the democratization of
cars electrification. Its unique technologies and capabilities allow the downsizing of the electric motors
while restituting the best energy efficiency without compromising the vehicle performances. Using
OLEA® T222, Automotive Tiers1 and OEMs will not only design the most powerful system, but they will
also increase drastically the quality of the Electronic Control Unit (ECU), reducing its footprint by limiting
the number of components needed to build the application.
Highly integrated and flexible
OLEA® T222 features AMEC® and SILant®, Silicon Mobility’s patented technologies.
AMEC® technology is an advanced hard real-time, determinist and parallel interface which combines an
embedded programmable logic area (AMEC® FLU), designed for automotive constraints, and a
specialized actuator/sensor peripherals unit (AMEC® PrP). AMEC® FLU offers the optimal resources to
host the most stringent control algorithms with fast, accurate, parallel and determinist execution. The
specialized peripherals unit includes several Pulse Width Modulators (PWM), Complex Wave Generators
(CWG), electric motor and engine position predictors, SENTs, PSI5s, SPIs, UARTs and ADC Group
managers with integrated analog comparators. As an example AMEC® can perform a very high
frequency control loop (over 200 KHz) with a high accuracy while ensuring the highest safety integrity
level with response time to any system failure in the range of 100 nanoseconds.
SILant® technology is a superset of safety features spread across OLEA® T222 that ensures the highest
system integrity at hardware, software and system level. SILant® incorporates high coverage hardware
safety mechanisms achieving ASIL-D ISO 26262 compliancy with no compromise on performance.
SILant® reduces drastically the amount and complexity of Software needed to guarantee the highest
level of integrity to the application.
SILant® provides to Safety architects and Software designers predictability, control and precision that
Automotive OEM and Tiers1 will translate directly into value in term of savings, time to market, system
performances and quality.
Open, standard and simple
OLEA® T222 is based on a standard ARM® Cortex-R5F CPU running at 200Mhz. The device features all
the required memories and communications ports: 2 MBytes of Flash, 80 KBytes of system memory; 32
channels ADC with 2 MSamples/sec, LIN and CAN-FD.
OLEA® T222 is ISO 26262 ASIL-D compliant and comes with SEooC (Safety Element out of Context) safety
work products to enable customer safety design assessments. The product is AEC-Q100 Grade 1
qualified for operation between -40°C to 125°C ambient temperatures.
OLEA® T222 is the first ARM® based powertrain solution. It comes enriched with the largest ecosystem
of software partners and tools providers. OLEA® development flow integrates Model-Based design,
automatic code generation, and software/hardware compiler/debugger. A starter kit will soon be
announced to complete the offer with AUTOSAR 4.2 compliant software and a development board
(OLEA® T222 Application Board).
OLEA® T222 is demonstrable today. Engineering samples will be available to customers during the first
