ANNUAL FOUR YEAR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

The Ohio Contractors Association is “the voice” of the heavy and highway industry in
Ohio. The members profit from such benefits as political representation, safety
programs, contract interpretation, and education/training programs. The Ohio
Contractors Association – Eastern Ohio Chapter Scholarship is a one-year scholarship
awarded annually to a student who has demonstrated an interest in the heavy and
highway construction industry and has an interest in staying in Ohio upon graduation.
ELIGIBILITY:
1. The student must be a citizen of the United States and be a student in a Bachelor
degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Construction
Management or a related area at the time of submitting this scholarship application
and receiving the award.
2. Preference is to be given to Ohio residents and to those students who have shown
an interest in the heavy/highway construction industry.
3. All sections of the application form packet must be completed and returned to the
Ohio Contractors Association by Wednesday, October 5, 2016. Incomplete
application packets will not be considered.
CRITERIA:
1. Selection of scholarship winners will be based upon the submission of a fully
completed application.
2. The students must have two College/University Recommendation Forms (enclosed)
completed by professors/instructors and returned to OCA by Wednesday, October
5, 2016.
3. The students should provide the names of other scholarships or grants applied for
and the status of their award.
4. Students are encouraged (but not required) to include a recommendation from an
OCA member company or individual.
5. There should be a demonstrated intent to remain in Ohio after graduation, and seek
permanent employment with an OCA member company.
6. The applicant must demonstrate scholastic ability.
7. Student participation in extracurricular activities should be provided for
consideration.
8. An official college/university transcript shall be sent with this application (student
copies of transcripts will not be accepted).
9. Funds will be made available for the 2016/2017 academic year.
AWARD NOTIFICATION: A member of the Executive Committee will notify the
successful applicant(s) by Friday, October 14. Scholarship will be awarded at the
Eastern Ohio OCA Sporting Clays Shoot scheduled for October 21 at Upland Valley in
Carrollton.

Contractors Association – Eastern Ohio Chapter Scholarship is a one-year scholarship
awarded annually to a student who has demonstrated an interest in the heavy and
highway construction industry and has an interest in staying in Ohio upon graduation.
ELIBIGILITY: The individual shall be enrolled in a 2-year Construction Technology,
Construction Management or related field of study.
The award will be based on the applicant’s merit potential and demonstrated interest in
the construction industry. The Scholarship Committee comprised of several members
of the Executive Committee for the Eastern Ohio Chapter of the OCA will determine the
dollar amount to be awarded based upon the application.
CRITERIA: All applicants must submit a completed application packet containing the
following information by Wednesday, October 5, 2016:
1.
A completed application form, signed and dated by both the applicant and the
OCA member
2.
An official grade transcript (no copies)
3.
Applicants are required to have two completed College University
Recommendation Forms
4.
Applicants are encouraged (but not required) to include a recommendation from
an OCA member company or individual
5.
Lists of all extracurricular activities of which the applicant is involved
