Francesca is ordinarily instructed at High Court and Appellate level but undertakes cases in every tier of court if needed. A large part of her work involves cases where there is a need for fact-finding (or legal argument around the need for fact-finding) and consequential applications and consequences between the criminal and family jurisdictions. She accepts instructions via direct access in both private and public law cases. She is regularly instructed in cases where criminal proceedings are pending or have resulted in acquittals or a lack of final prosecution and where further more wide-ranging findings may be made in the family court. In particular she specialises in cases where clients or other parties have been accused of rape, attempted murder, sexual abuse or serious violence often with little foundation and are alienated from their families and require urgent vindication. She also undertakes very many cases where an opposing party may have profound and as yet undiagnosed personality difficulties. Her recent case load has involved very serious cases of parental alienation and recruitment of children against a parent by care givers subsequently found to have real and enduring personality problems and mental health difficulties which have led them to alienate their children. Francesca's case-load also deals with very serious non-accidental injuries to children. She is very regularly instructed in the most complex medico legal cases, with particular expertise in brain injuries including but not limited to shaken baby syndrome. She regularly deals with children who have suffered skull and bodily fractures and bruising and has a particular interest in underlying bone and blood and genetic disorders.
