Transilvania Universtity of Brasov – Master’s Degree Programmes ADVANCED ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS (in English language) Faculty of: Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Coordinator: Prof. univ. dr. ing. Elena Helerea, helerea@unitbv.ro Length of study programme / Number of credits: 2 years / 120 credits Form of education: Full time Main objective of the master programme This study programme proposes the consolidation of subjects engaged during bachelor programme, in the field of Electrical Engineering and related fields: Power engineering, Electrical Engineering and Applied Engineering Sciences, as well as the development of research resources as basis for doctoral studies. Acquired competences A set of competences will be developed, having in view evolution from the capacity of « doing » to the capacity of « knowing to do ». Competence profile in the domain of Electrical Engineering and in adjacent domains is completed with new knowledge and skills: A. Option Advanced electrical systems for renewable energy conversion o Research abilities for design and optimization of renewable energy in situ systems, storage capacities and intelligent electrical distribution network, by applying knowledge related to renewable energy generation systems and electrical energy quality; o Development of projects for producing electrical energy based on renewable energy generation/storing/distribution techniques; o Specialized maintenance techniques for renewable energy systems in accordance to technical, economical and environment requirements. B. Option Advanced automotive electrical systems o Analysis, design and computer simulation of: command and control processes, classical operated transportation systems, electrical or hybrid systems, utilizing efficient models for engines, electrical machines, energy storage systems and batteries; o Design of electric propulsion systems and hybrid supply sources, by utilizing optimization models and dynamic programming; o Specialized maintenance techniques and resource management in automotive domain. C. Option Electrical energy management o Development of products/projects for energy management, taking into consideration the advanced technology for generation/ storage/distribution and efficient use of conventional electrical energy and renewable energy as well; o Coordination of projects for energy saving and conservation of energy; o Administration and leading competences regarding energy systems. To whom it is addressed Master study programme SEA, coordinated by The Department of Scientific Research Advanced Electrical Systems, in the fundamental study area of Engineering Sciences, in Electrical Engineering bachelor domain, is addressed to graduates of following license study programmes: - Electrical engineering and computer science (in English language) - Electrotechnics - Energy management. 1 Transilvania Universtity of Brasov – Master’s Degree Programmes At admission exam can participate all graduates from adjacent bachelor study programmes. Employment opportunities for SEA master graduates: - Electrical systems design engineer, - Maintenance engineer, - Product/project manager, - Electrical energy system manager, - Consultant, - Researcher in the field of renewable energy. Description of master study programme SEA master programme includes three options: - Advanced electrical systems for renewable energy conversion (coordinator Prof.univ. dr.ing. Corneliu Marinescu) - Advanced automotive electrical systems (coordinator Prof.univ. dr.ing. Gheorghe Scutaru) - Electrical energy management (coordinator Prof.univ. dr.ing. Elena Helerea). In the 1-st semester the studies are common for all directions of specialization. In the 2nd semester a part of the studies are common while other courses are already optional, in accordance with the directions of specialization. In the 3rd semester the proposed activities are optional, each one corresponding to one of the three directions of specialization. The 4th semester is dedicated to practical/research stages and writing the dissertation. The activity is organized specifically for each of the three optional directions. Practical stage and/or scientific research, as well as dissertation writing are organized in specific domains for each of the three directions, during the 4th semester. Cooperation and partnerships The Advanced Electrical Systems master study programme is organized in partnership with Romanian and European institutions: o European partners (in Socrates programme): Universities of Eindhoven, Ilmenau, Aachen, Dortmund, Belfort-Montbeliard, Aalborg. o Romanian partners (in didactical activities, practical placements, diploma projects, research projects): SC Electroprecizia SA, Sacele, SC Electrica SA , SC CD Electric SRL, Braşov, SC IMSAT Cuadripol SA Braşov. 2
