Why a question and answer system?

If for whatever reason you want a new card with access codes, you can use this application to apply for it. As a way of ensuring that you are the only person who can do that for yourself, we ask you a question that you have to answer during the application procedure.

You yourself have defined this question and this answer in MyPlansByBelfius. As with the user number, you should never reveal this to anyone. You are therefore the only person who knows this question and this answer.

Rules and tips when defining the question and answer

• Your question and answer are just as critical as your user number, so you should make sure that the question and answer combination is only obvious for you. You choose your question in such a way that you are the only person who can guess the answer. Your answer is just as difficult to guess as your user number.

• It could be that you will only have to apply for a new card with access codes in five years’ time, so you should choose a question to which you will still know the answer in five years’ time.

• You are the only person who knows the question and answer. Therefore you should not make a note of them anywhere and certainly not together with your user number or on your card with access codes.

• The longer a sentence, the more difficult it is to guess. Your question and your answer should each, separately, be at least eight characters and at most 100 characters long.

• Combine any multiple questions in one question. Don’t forget how you separate the answers: for example using “and” or “+”.

• If necessary, add a special character. If you do, make sure you remember it.

• You can change your question and answer using MyPlansByBelfius whenever you want. Make sure you do so if you suspect that someone else knows your answer.

Reason …

Easily discovered.

Easily discovered.

You’re bound to have forgotten that in five years’ time.

It may well be Latin, but anyone who has studied Latin could be familiar with this widely known proverb.

The play with capital letters and small letters means it is a lot less easy to discover the correct answer. But in this case you yourself mustn’t forget where you used capital letters.

The sentences are OK in terms of length, and you’ll no doubt remember the answer. There are few people who know the answer to the question, but with access to the right list the possibility of someone finding out the right answer cannot be ruled out.

The use of special characters in the answer makes it highly improbable that someone else could discover your answer. On the other hand, you have to remember that you used special characters in your answer.
