Tomorrow’s Job: Book to App Converters
According to Thomas Frey, Futurist: “Over the coming months
we will begin to see a form of competition brewing between
books and apps. With both being information products that
we interface with differently, we will begin to see a large
scale effort to convert existing books and literature into an
interactive app, similar to the current effort to convert popular
literature from print to audiobooks.”

Book to App Converters will allow authors to keep the content of their work
current, interactive, and may utilize a social media component. These active online
books, as opposed to static and quickly outdated products, will create new ways
to monetize services. For example, subscribers would pay a monthly fee to access
all new content. Book to App Converters will be in high demand in the near future,
and mobile media professionals will be ideally positioned to qualify for these
emerging jobs.
This project of the California Community Colleges was funded in part by SB70.
