The main building on Via Faenza dates back to the 13th century and was originally a convent connected to a medieval church. All of the facilities, including independent administrative offices, classroom buildings and art studios, are located on several premises in the city’s historical center in the San Lorenzo area. Florence is a living museum with works by famous painters, sculptors and architects everywhere. Lorenzo de’ Medici also offers programs in Tuscania, as well as the unique “Three Cities” program. Program II Liberal Arts/Studio Art Program (12-15 credits): A 3-credit Italian language course is required, which is offered at all levels from beginning through advanced. Beyond the compulsory Italian course, students are free to choose any of the courses they want in anthropology, art history, international business, archaeology and classical studies, cultural studies, communications, geography and environmental studies, gender studies, history, literature, mathematics, music, cinema and theater studies, philosophy and religious studies, political science and international studies, peace studies, psychology, sociology, writing, film, video and multimedia production, culinary and nutritional arts, painting, drawing and mixed media, dance, music and theatre performance, photography, printmaking, restoration, sculpture and ceramics, architecture, fashion design, marketing and merchandising, graphic design, interior design, jewelry design, and Italian language and culture. Internship courses are also available in various fields. Program III One Semester Certificate Programs (15 credits): Students have the opportunity to gather the professional skills and the theoretical underpinnings of exciting fields such as Visual Communication for Fashion, Product Design towards Sustainability, Architecture in Urban Context, Interior Design in Contemporary Living, Art in Food: Italian Gastronomy, Balance in Nutrition: the Art of Cooking.
