Activities






Provide play opportunities where conversations can occur e.g. home corner, cooking activities
Give opportunities for children to respond to questions such as:
o What do you think is happening?
o Tell me about….
o How can we find out?
o What do you need to do next?
o Can you think of another way to do this?
Always model the correct response back to child. If a child incorrectly pronounces a word,
model correctly using the mispronounced word several times in context e.g. if the child says
‘Tar’ instead of ‘Car’, the teacher can say ‘ I have a car…it is a blue car…my car goes fast.’
Feely Bags where children describe what they can feel in the bag.
‘I Spy’ type games. ‘I spy with my little eye, something green.’
Play other games e.g. What’s the time Mr Wolf? Doggy, Doggy where’s your Bone? Who Stole
the Cookie from the Cookie Jar?
