Stand-Alone Digital Serializer SER-1001-x01-x a DeCrane Aircraft Company Product Description Audio International's SER-1001-x01-x is a stand-alone Serial Digital Serializer that, depending on the model (see below) accepts analog audio input signals and analog video input signals from an external A/V device or devices or accepts analog audio input signals only from an external audio device or devices. SER-1001-101-x integrates a Serial Digital Serializer Board that separately serializes one (1) analog audio source into an AES3 (aka AES/EBU) serial digital format and one (1) analog video source into a standard-definition (SD) serial digital interface (SDI). The SD-SDI video input is compliant to level C of SMPTE 259M standards requirements. Each set of serial digital signals is then routed to either compatible switching or de-serializing devices. The input accepts stereo analog audio along with Composite (NTSC, PAL, SECAM) video signals. Stereo audio input is accomplished using 24-bit, 48kHz analog-to-digital conversion. SER-1001-201-x integrates a Serial Digital Serializer Board that serializes analog audio sources into respective AES3 (aka AES/EBU) serial digital formats. The serial digital audio signals are then routed to either compatible switching or decoding devices. The “-x01” in the model number designates the type of input the unit accepts; SER-1001-101-x accepts analog audio input signals and analog video input signals from an external A/V device or devices, while SER-1001-201-x accepts analog audio input signals only. The “-x” suffix designates the type of connector utilized in installation; “-1” = Positronic and “-2” = D-Subminiature. 4. Features Unit accepts standard analog stereo audio (and Composite Video—NTSC, PAL, SECAM—for the –101 version) Three (3) Simultaneous AES3 (AES/EBU) outputs (and three (3) Simultaneous SD-SDI Video outputs for the –101 version) Lightweight and sturdy design Automatic functionality; no control required No cooling requirements Easy to mount and connect Installation Guidelines 1. Application Notes 2. 1. 2. 3. Typical audio input interfaces include various audio source equipment. This unit can interface with and accept input from all standard COTS (Commercial-Off-The-Shelf) audio source equipment incorporating the specified interfaces including but not limited to: CD, Cassette, DVD, VCP, VCR and MP3 players as well as Personal Game Systems. Typical audio output interfaces include various audio distribution and/or signal manipulation devices. This unit can interface with and accept input from all standard COTS audio devices and/or equipment incorporating the specified interface including but not limited to: Audio Crosspoint Switchers, Sound Processors, Power Amplifiers and Passenger Headsets (typically used for entertainment purposes). Typical video input interfaces include various types of video source equipment. This unit is capable of interfacing and accepting input from all standard COTS video source equipment incorporating the specified interfaces including but not limited to: Camcorder, Live-Feed Camera, DVD, VCP and VCR players as well as Moving Map Systems (i.e., SVR-4000x-x, Airshow, JetMAP, etc) and Personal Game Systems. Typical video output interfaces include various video distribution and/or signal manipulation devices. This unit is capable of interfacing and providing output to all standard COTS video devices and/or equipment incorporating the specified interface including but not limited to: Video Crosspoint Switchers, LCD Display Monitors, and Touch Screen ECU modules. 3. 4. Power and ground connections are recommended to use 22 AWG, minimum, wiring in accordance with MIL-W-22759 or equivalent. Source input analog audio connections and output digital audio connections are recommended to use 22 AWG, minimum, shielded twisted pair cabling as necessary in accordance with NEMA WC 27500 or equivalent. Composite and SDI video connections (for the –101 model) are recommended to use shielded coaxial cable V76261 from PIC Wire and Cable length limitations are 50 meters with up to four (4) interconnects permitted, as long as the connectors do not create in-line impedance (example - the 50 meter video cable can be broken up into five 10 meter segments). In-line connectors must be rated the same characteristic impedance; it must be designed for the cable and installed properly. In the case of V76261 cable, the characteristic impedance is 75 Ω. For longer cable runs, a transition to RG59 cable, using BNC connectors, can be made. All digital audio wire connections must be twisted shielded cable with the shield properly grounded to the dedicated pin at the source end to the dedicated pin at the load end. Twisted shielded cable shall be 22 AWG (minimum) for digital audio signals and shall be in accordance with NEMA WC 27500 or equivalent. Cable impedance must be 110 Ω +/10%.
