THE 25th IAPS JURIED EXHIBITION The 2014 Webshow An Exhibition on the IAPS Website The 25th Juried Exhibition of the International Association of Pastel Societies will be hosted on the IAPS website, www.pastelinternational.com. This is an online exhibition only and no work will be shipped. AWARDS: First Place $1,000, Second Place $500, Third Place $300, Fourth Place $200 and Honorable Mentions $100. Plus The Maggie Price Award for Excellence $500. ELIGIBILITY: Open to any artist who has an up-to-date membership with an IAPS Member Society. Upon acceptance, artists will be required to show proof of membership (membership card, cancelled check, or email from society president). A current list of IAPS member societies can be viewed at www.pastelinternational.com. ENTRY DEADLINE: The entry form, digital image of work to be submitted, and payment of the entry fee must be submitted to OnlineJuriedShows.com no later than October 15, 2014. ELIGIBLE WORK: Please read carefully to make sure your work meets the following entry requirements. Work must be in dry pastel only. No oil pastels. Mixed media must be predominantly (80%) dry pastel. Work must be original, not copied from other artists or published materials. All artwork must be originally drawn and not created on top of a base photo or print. All work must have been created within the last two years. Paintings of nudes will be considered for acceptance. Works done under supervision (such as in a workshop or class) are not eligible. Work may not have been shown in any previous IAPS Exhibitions. IMPORTANT DATES October 15 - Entry deadline November 10 - Notification December 12 - Awards announced All accepted works will be displayed on the IAPS web site and here on OnlineJuriedShows.com under View Past Shows. Failure to meet any of the requirements for eligible work may result in the work not being juried. IAPS reserves the right to exclude from exhibitions any artwork deemed offensive, or any artwork that violates the laws of the United States, or of state or local governments. IAPS MASTER CIRCLE AND IAPS EMINENT PASTELIST Honors Awards. Acceptance into this exhibition earns 1 point (even if more than one image is accepted); an award earns an additional point. This exhibition will be the last where you can earn points towards your Master Circle or Eminent Pastelist for the 2015 Convention. PLEASE NOTE: When filling out your information while entering the show at OnelineJuriedShow.com, please be sure all information is correct - spelling, title, pricing of your paintings All information is input by the Artist (who has the sole access to this information) and is used by IAPS for reference, printed materials, and online postings. Please be sure to capitalize your name and title of your pieces, list the dimensions by HxW, and price. For example: Name: Jane Doe Title: Homeward Bound Dimensions: 12x24 (for a landscape format) OR 24x12 (for a portrait format) Price: 500 (No $, no period, no commas) ENTRY FEE: The entry fee is $35.00 for the first image and $10.00 for each additional image. Up to 5 images may be submitted by an individual artist. Entry fees are not refundable. ONLINE ENTRY: Entry is online only. You do not need to have a PayPal account to pay the entry fee online, just a valid credit card. JURORS AND JUDGE: A panel of three Jurors will select the entries to be accepted for the exhibition, and a Judge of Awards will choose the awards. JUDGE OF AWARDS: Stan Sperlak (www.stansperlak.com) is a painter, teacher and author who is well known by artists and students for being intensely dedicated to art history and earth sciences. His pastel works range from painterly realism to colorist abstractions primarily of the landscape. Having studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Sperlak has gone on to teach painting workshops both nationally and internationally. He is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America. JUROR: Leslie Lillien Levy (www.leslielillienlevy.com) is an award-winning painter who specializes in still life and portraiture. Her work has been accepted and exhibited in numerous international, national and regional juried and invitational shows. She is a Master Pastelist in the Pastel Society of America and sits on their Board of Governors. She also holds professional artist membership in Academic Artists, Allied Artists of America, Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, and Connecticut Pastel Society. JUROR: Colette Odya Smith - In her 20-year love affair with pastels, Colette Odya Smith (www.coletteodya.smith.net) has exhibited widely and won numerous awards and recognitions, including membership in the IAPS Master’s Circle, signature membership in the Pastel Society of America and Distinguished Pastelist designation in the Pastel Society of New Mexico. Her work has been shared in galleries, museums, magazines and other publications. She brings her teaching background to her workshops, critiques, writing and jurying/judging. JUROR: Karen Margulis is a member of the IAPS Master Circle, a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, and a member of excellence in the Southeastern Pastel Society. Her paintings have received recognition in many international exhibitions, including PSA and IAPS. Karen teaches workshops and classes and shares her instruction and artwork on her daily blog (http://kemstudios.blogspot.com). DIGITAL IMAGE FORMAT: Please follow the instructions carefully regarding the preparation of your images: 1. Only jpeg image files will be accepted. 2. Required image size is 1920 pixels on the longest side (if it is a horizontal image, 1920 pixels wide; if a vertical, 1920 pixels tall). Save your files with a resolution of 72 dpi. 3. Image files must be named as follows: Your Last name_ First Initial_Title of painting. FOR EXAMPLE: Lastname_F_Imagetitle.jpeg If the image title is long, please abbreviate it. You can also use the Handy-Dandy Image Resize tool on the Help page.
