The Arena Multiespacio shopping centre,
located at the Orriols district of Valencia,
is an urban mall with 44,000 sqm. and a
gross area for hire of around 30,000 sqm.
distributed in three floors. It comprises more
than one hundred of shops, prestigious firms
in the fashion and accessories markets, a
large hypermarket, an enormous store of
electrical appliances and several food and
leisure premises. It has also a 65 metres
high tower for offices, professional bureaus
and lofts, and a multi-storey car park with
space for 1500 cars.

CHALLENGE
Arena Multiespacio is a commercial centre
with a vast space that needs a reliable
and functional CCTV system to carry out
an exhaustive control from the viewpoint
of professional security: intruders,
vandalism...and to permit the monitoring
and management of the visual information
with prevention and control improvement
purposes.
SOLUTION
Arena Multiespacio decides to use the Visual
Tools’ video management system. The client
allocates the CCTV cameras at strategic
points and connects them to several DVRs
of the VX range. Likewise, the reception
and management software is installed in
the computers of the control centre to
guarantee the video surveillance of the
different areas as well as the centralized
security management of the whole facility.

ome months before the official
opening to the public of the Arena
Multiespacio shopping centre, its
security responsible - Juan Capdevilla- had
already suffered half of the headaches of
those who have the responsibility to start
up a security system in places tagged as
difficult to manage like commercial centres.
This is to guarantee the daily security of
the premises for the firms that occupy the
commercial area, and also the security of
the workers and visitors that are welcomed
to this wide and changeable environment;
a place addressed to a familiar target and,
thus, with a variety of cultural and leisure
activities that will for sure become a
magnetic attraction on offenders.
After analyzing different options, CC.
Arena Multiespacio decides to trust in the
distributed security solution offered by Visual
Tools.
The startup begins within the first quarter of
2010 and the whole system is in operation 3
months later.
The video recorders of the VX range offer
a great image quality, especially when
transmitting in a local network, but they
also have a reputation for “extremely tough”
in the outside and flexible in the inside,
and that’s what is needed in the Arena
Multiespacio. The varied areas that form the
shopping centre have different needs and the
VX DVRs have a high adaptation capability,
like the chameleon, to fulfill the requirements
of each one of them and still reach the best
performance.
Besides, it has an agile system for
processing the recorded video, being this
very valuable to commercial centres since it
serves to perform a case-by-case analysis of
the daily incidents.
The whole system shall be managed in
remote from a control centre and the agility
and functionality that offers the software
of the VX range leaves no doubt about being
taking the right choice. The Supervisor VS
software permits to carry out a centralized
video management with guarantee: it has the
appropriated tools to perform a preventive
maintenance of the security installation
(video patrols, units’ software updates,
incidence reports...) and to maintain it fully
operational without investing many human
and technical resources.
Images such as the ones captures by the
cameras located in the most sensitive
areas - and that are transmitted by the
corresponding DVRs- are displayed in multimonitors and video walls. All the activity of
the day is controlled from the management
system: alarms, events, suspicion...and,
of course, the system does not sleep and,
at night, it performs the maintenance
programmed tasks to ensure the correct
functioning of all the units on the following
day.

In the security control centre of the Arena
Multiespacio there are currently several
operators working simultaneously in the
continuous monitoring of the more than a
hundred cameras that are located in the
premises.
