FTEN Trade Control Gateways

FTEN Trade Control Gateways
Changing Market Access
Requirements
Trading firms need fast, reliable and scalable access to
market centers and liquidity pools in order to be competitive.
Likewise current regulation demands that brokers
demonstrate controls to meet today’s risk management
requirements along with the flexibility to adapt to tomorrow’s
market structure and technological innovations.
Compounding the access challenge are the significant
integration requirements related to tracking activity and
performing risk management across different systems,
desks, and asset classes. Traditional trading architecture
makes it nearly impossible to assess a client’s overall credit
positions and apply appropriate limits. The impact? Firms
spend too much time managing costly IT/infrastructure
requirements at the expense of their core value-added
business: trading.

environment, FTEN Trade Control Gateways are
tailored to meet firm-specific latency and connectivity
requirements and can process orders and receive
executions from major liquidity destinations and
global market centers. The solution is trusted for
performance and throughput, handling over a billion
trades on a daily basis and providing users with a
feature-rich experience that includes load balancing,
protocol conversion, and a full monitoring suite.
Gateway customers also benefit from NASDAQ OMX’s
state-of-the-art high-speed network and unparalleled
connectivity options.

FTEN VelocityXpress (VX) and
VX Proxy Gateways
FTEN VX gateways are fully managed trade control gateways for
low-latency market access integrated with the FTEN RiskXposure for
pre-trade risk control. The gateways provide live order book updates,
risk management and message translation with minimal latency. They
can be deployed in an FTEN data center, at a client’s site, or third-party
co-location provider.
FTEN Software Controls
FTEN Sidecar is a lightweight Java application that integrates third-party
trading systems with FTEN RiskXposure (RX) to enable real-time analysis
of orders against RX designated parameters with minimal added latency.
FTEN also offers direct API interfaces to FTEN RiskXposure, enabling
enforcement of true pre-, at- and post- trade risk controls on
compatible third party gateways. Used alone or in combination with
hardware options, the software controls provide the flexibility, speed
and functionality to meet any trader’s needs.
FTEN Hardware Controls
FTEN utilizes various network devices to enforce controls on trading
activity within FTEN or third-party trading environments. These
purpose-built, hardware-based trade control systems can halt client
order flow in the event of a breach condition on both a pre- or posttrade basis depending on configuration and placement, with minimal
additional latency.

Experienced Support
Acquiring and maintaining staff that have domain
expertise with the full range of native destination
protocols, and the proficiency to design and support
an ultra low latency trading architecture can be both
costly and difficult. Traditional trading platform support
staff are seldom trained to diagnose latency and
connection problems or assist clients in reconfiguring
trade connectivity on the fly.
Firms can leverage FTEN’s extensive knowledge and
experience designing, optimizing and monitoring
connectivity and trading architecture to lower the
financial burden of platform support and achieve
operational excellence. FTEN works with firms to design
high-performance trading environments with the
appropriate risk controls, network configurations and
infrastructure needed to keep their clients and their
own trading environments running at full speed with
unprecedented uptime.
Customize layouts to quickly and easily view and search for orders
as needed. View open inbound/outbound orders, trades broken by
exchanges/venues, unacknowledged orders, symbols traded, and a
variety of other attributes for unparalleled visibility into trading activity.
