Xu Guoqi received Ph.D in history from Harvard University and is currently professor of History at the University of Hong Kong. Professor Xu is expert of Asia and the First World War, international history of modern China, and China’s relations with the world. His most recent works include: Chinese and Americans: A Shared History (Harvard University Press, 2014, Chinese edition will be published by Guangxi Normal University Press, forthcoming), Strangers on the Western Front: Chinese Workers in the Great War (Harvard University Press, February 2011; Chinese edition was published by Shanghai People’s Press, summer 2014), Olympic Dreams: China and Sports, 1895-2008 (Harvard University Press, 2008), and China and the Great War: China’s Pursuit of a New National Identity and Internationalization (Cambridge, UK and New York: Cambridge University Press, 2005, 2011) (Chinese edition by Shanghai Sanlian Shudian, 2008 and 2013). He is currently working on a volume titled Asia and the Great War: a shared journey (under contract for Oxford University Press).
