Position Title: Machine Operator Department: Production Supervisor: Production Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Produces quality products by operating machines in a safe and efficient manner. Machine operators are cross trained on production equipment including, but not limited to: Case Packer - Puts final product in container for sale Depal – Depallitizes a pallet of empty cans or bottles Palletizer – Palletizes full case product Filler – Fills and seals empty containers with product Labeler – Applies labels to bottles Pre-Mix – Opens, washes and fills pre-mix canisters CO2 Filler – Fills empty CO2 cylinders ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Completes operation checks on equipment. Completes paperwork in a timely manner. Follows all standard operating procedures to operate equipment efficiently. Operates equipment in a safe manner by following all safety guidelines. Cleans work area immediately following shift. Utilizes down time to clean work areas and the overall facility. Works with Quality Assurance department to maintain high quality standards on all raw and finished goods. 8. Operates baler, forklift and compactor (must be age 18 or older). 9. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school education or equivalent required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Must be willing and able to be cross trained in department. Requires ability to read and write. Requires ability to work independently and within a team structure. Requires ability to be observant for problems and respond quickly. WORKING AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS 06-01-09 VCC Machine Operator 1 This position works in a plant manufacturing/warehouse setting. Exposed to moving machinery such as forklifts and production equipment. Exposed to loud noise from moving forklifts and production equipment. Exposed to extreme temperatures and dust. Requires flexibility with schedule including break times and working extended hours when needed. Will work an occasional weekend. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Lifting: Ground to Waist Lift (Frequently) up to 25# (cases) Ground to Waist Lift (Rarely) up to 40# (cases) Ground to Waist Lift (Occasionally) up to 50# (pallets) Carrying: Front Carry (Rarely) 25 foot carry up to 55# Pushing/Pulling: Dynamic pushing/pulling (chemical barrels) on cart for up to 50 feet Dynamic Pushing and Pulling (Occasionally) scrubbing Ambulatory Activity: Standing/Walking (Continuously) standing on variable surfaces throughout entire shift Climbing (Occasionally) in and around equipment Stairs (Occasionally) step up/down from 15’ platform/step heights Squatting/Stooping/Kneeling: (Occasionally) to as low as ground level while cleaning Repetitive use of hand/grasping: (Occasionally) light to forceful manipulating/grasping of product Reaching: (Frequently on Depal) up to 32 inches in front of body at floor to 60” heights while reaching for product.
