How to reduce your waste tips
Reduce the amount of food waste you are producing by planning meals, using leftovers in recipes and
storing food correctly. Tips on reducing food waste are available on our website at
www.eastriding.gov.uk/reduceandreuse
Any remaining food waste should be placed in your brown bin to be composted.
Good quality clothes, shoes, books and toys can be taken to a charity shop or placed in a charity bank to
be reused.
Reusable items taken to any of the HWRS will now be available for sale at the brand new reuse shop at
Humberfield HWRS. A percentage of the shop’s profits will be donated to local charities.
Make sure you’re recycling everything you can in your blue bin - don’t forget items from the bathroom
such as toilet roll tubes, shampoo bottles, empty cleaning product bottles and empty aerosol cans.
If you have a small blue bin and would like a larger one visit www.eastriding.gov.uk/bins. You can also
request an additional blue bin if required.
Please place all waste inside the green bin for collection,
waste left at the side of the bin will not be collected.
