How to calibrate COBOX Wattmeter Power Analyzer The COBOX Wattmeter device is easy to calibrate. All that is need is a Bluetooth Terminal application on your Android smart device. The application used in this example is Bluetooth Terminal application from Querty. You can find it on Google Play. To calibrate the COBOX Wattmeter device, simply install (if you have not done that already) and run the Bluetooth Terminal application (to run the application tap on the Bluetoothe terminal application icon). The COBOX Wattmeter device should first be pairied with the Android smart phone device. The figure below shows the icons of the installed COBOX Wattmeter Analyser and Bluetooth Terminal applications. Then, connect the Bluetooth Terminal application to the COBOX Wattmeter device. You can see data received from COBOX Wattmeter device. The figure below shows the data received from the COBOX Wattmeter device that is connected to a battery – NO LOAD. Next, press the RESET button on the COBOX Wattmeter device in order to restart the device and observe the Software version and factory calibrated data. The Android smart device is still connected to COBOX Wattmeter device via Bluetooth after the reset button is pressed. Now, you can clear calibration data and load the new one in COBOX Wattmeter device. Output from COBOX wattmeter after the reset button has been pressed Output from COBOX wattmeter after sending “C” for “clear calibration data” Press “c” and “SEND” button to transfer data to COBOX Wattmeter device wirelessly via Bluetooth in to clear the calibration values and enter new ones. You must send “c” in 6 seconds after reset button was pressed. After 6 seconds COBOX Wattmeter device will start to work normally. Now you can write your own data for calibration into your COBOX Wattmeter device. After every input, the send button has to be pressed in order to transfer new calibration piece of data into the COBOX Wattmeter. After new calibration data are entered you get the printout message, that new calibration data are saved. The calibration data can be set in values of the form X.XXX STEADY_amp : If your motor controller or load have some current consumption when not in move, just powered on. Calibrate_voltage_divider: Voltage calibration number Calibrate_current_divider: Current calibration number MEASURMENTS FOR CALIBRATION MODE: If you press the reset button on the COBOX Wattmeter device and send “m” to Bluetooth Terminal, you get uncalibrated output values. This helps you to calculate new calibration divider data for “Voltage” and “Current”. After new reset or disconnect/reconnect COBOX Wattmeter device, you will enter “normal mode”. HOW TO CALCULATE NEW CALIBRATION VALUE: Trusted Measured value / Cobox Wattmeter = new calibration divider NOTE: You have to measure for new calibration at Calibrate_voltage_divider = 1.000 & Calibrate_current_divider = 1.000.
