Who is WOSP?
First introduced to the UK by Richard
Wos in 1990, the market for high torque,
gear reduction starter motors has grown
significantly over the years as owners of
vintage, historic, classic, performance
and race cars have come to realise the
numerous advantages of these lightweight,
powerful starter motors.
Significant knowledge of the Japanese
products upon which the majority of our
starter motors, alternators and dynators are
based was gained when throughout the 80’s
and 90’s Richard Wos was responsible for
supplying the Daihatsu, Isuzu, Mitsubishi
and Subaru’s dealer networks throughout
the UK with their rotating electric
requirements.
The knowledge gained in 35 years of
remanufacturing rotating electrics and
supplying the aftermarket has now been
passed on to the second generation.
Luke Wos having finished his engineering
studies took over the production of these
units almost 10 years ago and has been
responsible for developing and increasing
the range of applications and products.
With the racer in mind we have designed
and developed a wide range of STARTER
MOTORS, ALTERNATORS and DYNATORS
(alternators disguised as dynamos). From
our good value and reliable Lucas based
replacement items to our high output and
lightweight alternatives.

compression engines or do you simply want
an upgrade? Our range of brand new high
output, lightweight, gear reduction starter
motors are fully manufactured in-house and
are completely adaptable to your individual
requirement.

as PMGR. Planetary gear reduction units
have an ‘inline’ gear reduction unit and the
motor sits directly behind the drive.
We continue to build specialised units
which are not listed, if you have a specialist

nearest or most suitable stockist. We offer
a full back up service for all our units; we
service them and also keep a full stock
of component parts. We are also able to
service and rebuild O.E. and specialist items
in our fully equipped manufacturing and
machining unit.
All our starter motors are 100% brand
new and built to the highest standards
to withstand the rigours of all forms of
Motorsport. The majority of our units are
based on a high power 1.4kW Denso high
torque starter motor which we modify
to suit each application and individual
requirement.
In the last 20 years over 25,000 of these high
performance starters have been supplied
to dealers and distributors in the UK and
exported to all parts of the world. Initially
we started manufacturing direct Lucas
replacements for 60’s British vehicles but
since then the range has continued to grow
and units are now available ‘off the shelf’ for
a wide variety of makes from 1912-2012.

We have a multitude of pinion gears and
mounting flange plates in stock and our
universal gearbox housings enable us
to obtain any static position. The static
position is the distance of which the pinion
gear sits in relation to the mounting face of
the starter. This is ideally 1-3mm from the
closest edge of the flywheel/ring gear. Every
Denso starter mounts in a unique circular
stepped register which enables it to be spun
360 degrees on its own axis with ease giving
the unit an infinite number of mounting
positions.

All our units are brand new and give you the choice of fitment options, varying outputs,
single wire hook up’s and even units fully chromed for the ultimate show car! In addition to
this large range of units we continue to offer a complete range of spares including pulleys,
alternator looms and voltage regulators.
We can also convert any of our own units or yours to 6volt or +ve earth at an additional

DYNATORS
- DYNAMO REPLACEMENTS, LIGHTWEIGHT, HIGH OUTPUT.
As well as our range of alternators we are now producing a range of alternators disguised as
dynamos. Our WOSP DYNATOR’s!
We are currently manufacturing these in a wide range of designs including the most
common Lucas units – C39, C40, C40L, C42 & C45. We are also more than capable of
copying an original dynamo which we do not currently manufacture and producing a
custom dynator.
These units are direct replacements and keep the classic appearance by using the original
wires already in place. You simply have to by-pass the bulkhead mounted regulator box as
our Dynators have built in regulators. All the units are manufactured in-house from billet
aluminium and we incorporate our light-weight 50amp, 65amp and 80amp race alternators
inside more than doubling the output of the original item in most cases!
We also manufacture these to suit applications such as Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Willys, AC,
Delahaye, Chevrolet, Lancia and Mercedes Benz.
As with any of our alternators, for an additional charge we can convert them to 6 volt, 8 volt
or +ve earth so fitting an ‘alternator’ on your classic vehicle no longer requires you to swap
the polarity or convert it to 12 volts. Keep the vehicle original and enjoy the benefits!

Who is WOSP?
First introduced to the UK by Richard
Wos in 1990, the market for high torque,
gear reduction starter motors has grown
significantly over the years as owners of
vintage, historic, classic, performance
and race cars have come to realise the
numerous advantages of these lightweight,
powerful starter motors.
Significant knowledge of the Japanese
products upon which the majority of our
starter motors, alternators and dynators are
based was gained when throughout the 80’s
and 90’s Richard Wos was responsible for
supplying the Daihatsu, Isuzu, Mitsubishi
and Subaru’s dealer networks throughout
the UK with their rotating electric
requirements.
The knowledge gained in 35 years of
remanufacturing rotating electrics and
supplying the aftermarket has now been
passed on to the second generation.
Luke Wos having finished his engineering
studies took over the production of these
units almost 10 years ago and has been
responsible for developing and increasing
the range of applications and products.
With the racer in mind we have designed
and developed a wide range of STARTER
MOTORS, ALTERNATORS and DYNATORS
(alternators disguised as dynamos). From
our good value and reliable Lucas based
replacement items to our high output and
lightweight alternatives.
