CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed for students as well as technicians and engineers with special emphasis placed on discrete and integrated devices. Devices covered will be the bipolar transistor, operational amplifier, and various integrated components. The course will update students on current devices available, applications, and techniques for practical use of the devices. Four hours lecture per week.
CLASS SCHEDULE COURSE DESCRIPTION
For students as well as technicians with an emphasis placed on current discrete and integrated devices and applications which include diodes, transistors, opamps, and opto-electronic devices.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:
1. identify schematic symbols of discrete semiconductor devices

2. describe the practical applications of diodes, transistors, and op-amps
3. identify semiconductor devices
4. identify the applications of operational amplifiers in integrated circuits
5. describe basic physics of light as related to photo conductors, photo diodes, and solar cells
6. prepare for entry into jobs typically identified as research and development technician, instrumentation technician, and field service technician

Over an 18 week presentation of the course three hours per week are required for each unit of credit. Two hours of independent work done out of class are required for each hour of lecture. Students will be required to complete the following types of assignments outside of the regular class time:
