DISC BRAKES
Due to greater disc surface area and a floating disc design that allows
for thermal expansion, the Fixed Caliper brake manages heat better,
resulting in increased pad and disc life. And, because only half the
clamping force is required to produce the necessary torque, smaller
actuators can be used reducing air consumption. With only half the
clamping force required, less cast iron material is needed for structural
reinforcement. The fixed caliper is significantly lower in weight and has
fewer parts when compared to conventional disc brakes.
UNIQUE TWO-PIECE CALIPER
DESIGN FOR EASE OF SERVICE
The service friendly, two-piece caliper design with splined discs
makes it possible to change out discs and pads without removing
the caliper from the axle mount. Additionally, the brake can be
fitted to conventional torque plates allowing the fixed caliper to be
compatible and interchangeable with conventional disc brakes.
This means fewer axle variants for the OEM, and the
torque plate can be optimized to reduce overall
weight even further. The compact design leaves
generous space between the brake and rim for an
improved cooling effect and easier fit with a broader
range of rim and valve stem variants.
