The Compulsory section of the qualification covers the knowledge and skills related to applying problem solving techniques, providing a reservation service using a property management system, maintaining a reservation service, and providing hospitality sales and service opportunities to customers. The Elective section of the qualification allows candidates to select standards from the Business Operations and Development subfield or the Guest Services, Hospitality – Generic, Hospitality – Specific Skills, and Service Sector – Management domains that are relevant to their job roles. The qualification can lead on from the National Certificate in Hospitality (Front Office) (Level 3) with an optional strand in Hotel Systems [Ref: 0557], and can lead onto the National Diploma in Hospitality (Operational Management) (Level 5) with strands in Kitchen Management, Food and Beverage Management, Rooms Division Management, and Functions Management [Ref: 1245].
