Department of China Studies
The Department teaches and researches about China's history, society, politics,
language and culture. It delivers a BA in China Studies open to both Chinese and
international students with two specializations: Teaching Chinese as an International
Language; and Contemporary China Studies. The department, which started operation
in 2014/15 is scheduled to grow to about 13 staff by 2018.
A list of available modules is in Choice of modules, but typically a
student will select from the following modules for a year of study:
1. Chinese History
2. Chinese Civilisation
3. Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and China’s Revolutions
