TECHNOLOGY UPGRADES COMING SOON! Important information for our members Implementation of a technology upgrade will begin on the afternoon of June 21, 2016 and complete on June 23, 2016. During the upgrade period, all branches and ATMs will be closed, telephone banking and MemberDirect online banking will be unavailable, and debit cards will not function. Members are advised to store enough cash in a secure place to meet their needs through the upgrade period. Credit cards will continue to function as usual. You can minimize any undesirable effects of the upgrade period by doing the following: • Plan Ahead — Make sure that any in-branch transactions are completed on or before noon, Tuesday, June 21, 2016. • Check your bill payment due dates — If they fall between June 21 and June 24, you may want to pay them in advance so that you don’t have to worry about having access to this service during the upgrade period. • Make sure you have cash and/or some personalized cheques on hand for the upgrade period, and plan ahead for larger purchases. SHARE DIVIDENDS PAID A basic requirement of Credit Union membership is the purchase of Equity Shares. Did you know that your required 25 shares increase over time? Each year, the Credit Union uses a portion of its profits to pay share dividends. For 2015, dividends in the amount of three percent (3%) were paid on the average quarterly minimum balance of members’ equity share accounts. Dividends were paid on February 18, 2016 and will appear on your monthly statement. WEALTH MANAGEMENT UPDATE Williams Lake and District Credit Union would like to welcome its new partner in wealth, Credential. We have terminated our contract with our previous dealer HollisWealth. In 2013 Dundee, the back office service provider for the Credit Union’s wealth management department, was bought out by the Bank of Nova Scotia and renamed HollisWealth, prompting the Credit Union to explore options for switching dealers. The impending retirement of advisor Jeanne-Anne Bentham at the end of 2015 provided the opportunity to change dealers from HollisWealth to Credential. Credential offers the same products members have come to value such as mutual funds, stocks, exchange-traded funds, etc. Our subsidiary also offers life insurance. The Wealth Management team in Williams Lake has expanded to now include Craig Glover, Financial Planning Professional, as well as Abigail King and Christina Roderus, Investment Specialists. We would also like to welcome Investment Specialists Louise Mayes in 100 Mile House and Steve Taylor in Bella Coola. A reminder to existing HollisWealth clients—if you haven’t moved your accounts to Credential yet we are here to help! Every member has different views on finances and our Wealth Management team can develop a portfolio designed to accommodate individual members’ specific needs. Whether our clients are accumulating wealth, investing a lump sum, or drawing on their life savings, the wealth management team can help them understand and navigate the complexities of the financial world. We can help clients find solutions to create tax-efficient, sustainable cash flow to meet their needs. Our main focus is to bring clients peace of mind by creating a clear, actionable strategy that allows them to meet their goals. A few points of note from our Credential team: - We would like to remind you that Tax Free Savings Account contributions for 2016 have been reduced to $5500 annually per individual. - With the increase in market volatility, now is a great time to come in for a portfolio review. - Financial plans are an important tool in wealth planning. Our Financial Planning Professional Craig Glover can help set you on the right path towards meeting all your current and future financial goals. - You are never too young to start planning for your financial future! Even if you don’t have cash in hand today, come in and let us show you your options. The Wealth Management team would like to thank all clients for their patience during the wealth management services transition. We value you as members and look forward to continuing our relationship with you. WE’RE ON FACEBOOK! Your Credit Union now has a Facebook page!
