Description of the activity Demonstrate competence in performing the common procedures of the pediatric pulmonary subspecialist All pediatric pulmonologists need to be able to perform the common procedures of the subspecialty. The ACGME currently requires competence in interpretation of a variety of diagnostic tests, including diagnostic imaging. The ACGME currently requires competence in the performance of the following procedures: tests of pulmonary function and evaluation of respiration during sleep, bronchoscopy, mechanical ventilation and non-invasive ventilation. The ACGME currently requires that fellows understand the techniques of airway clearance and pulmonary rehabilitation. In addition to technical skills, performing procedures requires: 3.
