EZ Ladder software parallels the IEC-61131 standard and provides an easy to use interface. After a ladder diagram program is developed, it can be downloaded to the HEC controller via the serial port or Ethernet Port. The program is stored on non-volatile FLASH memory and is automatically executed on power up. Once the download is complete, the HEC is successfully programmed and begins executing the program. The HEC-P5000 Series Controllers supports the use of Structured Text. Refer to the EZ Ladder User’s Manual for more detail on creating ladder diagram programs, connecting to targets and downloading the program to targets. All inputs will operate from 8-32VDC and are divided into 4 groups of 3 inputs for high speed counting (or digital input), 3 inputs for quadrature counting (or digital input) and two groups of 5 digital inputs. All inputs support sinking and sourcing using configuration jumpers (3 counter inputs and 2 quadrature counter inputs) or wiring method (two groups of 5 standard inputs). Standard digital inputs are accessed in the ladder program by the use of contacts and boolean variables. Inputs used as counters are accessed using specialized function blocks. Digital Output / Pulse Width Modulation Outputs There are 16 digital outputs standard on the HEC-P5000 Series controllers. All outputs will operate from 8-32VDC and source up to 2 Amps each. These 16 digital outputs are divided into four groups of 4. Each group of 4 outputs has an individual power pin which is the source of power for the output group; therefore each output group may be connected to a different voltage (as long as it is within 8-32VDC). This allows for multiple voltage loads to be connected. Three of the groups (12 outputs) will operate as digital outputs (Off / On operation) or as Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). The additional group of 4 outputs operate as digital outputs (Off / On operation) only. For PWM operation, the 12 channels are controlled with two unique PWM frequencies (one frequency per 6 outputs). For each of the 12 PWM capable outputs, two of the channels in each of the 4 groups supports load current monitoring via onboard analog inputs. This load current reading may be used in the closed loop control or to monitor and detect load anamolies. Serial Ports The HEC-P5000 supports two serial ports accessible via a 5-pin M12 Cable. These two serial ports may be field configured and programmed as RS232 or RS485 individually. When utilizing the ladder diagram programming, these serial ports individually may be used to serially print data using the SERIAL_PRINT function block and can be used as Modbus Master or Slave ports. For direct communication to devices outside the scope of Modbus, the HEC-P5000 structured text support provides the ability to create a structured text driver specifically for any serial device. Ethernet An Ethernet port is available on supported HEC-P5000 Series models. The Ethernet port is accessible via a 4-pin D-Coded M12 cable. The HEC-P5000 Series controller’s Ethernet port may be used to program the HEC-P5000 Series controller or it may be configured and used as a Modbus Master or Modbus Slave (Modbus TCP). This port may be field configured with multiple options and supports fixed as well as dynamic IP addressing (DHCP). CAN Network Communications The HEC-P5000 Series controllers’ CAN Ports support Divelbiss OptiCAN. Divelbiss OptiCAN is a proprietary register based CAN network that allows controllers, I/O modues and HMI devices to communicate to each other. OptiCAN utilizes the on-board CAN network ports on the HEC-P5000 Series controllers. OptiCAN supports up to 64 devices and each device supports up to 256 network registers. Register transmission may be based on time or triggered by an event. The OptiCAN network provides function blocks for controlling the network and network status. In addition to OptiCAN, the HEC-P5000 Series supports J1939 and NMEA 2000 including full transmit and receive capabilities. 9778 Mt. A Micro SD plug-in socket is standard internal to each controller. This card is currently used for installing or updating ladder programs or controller kernel files. Future expansion will include data-logging to this SD Card memory. FRAM Retentive Memory / EEPROM Memory The HEC-P5000 Series controllers utilize FRAM technology for retentive variables in the user program. Variables declared as retentive, are automatically stored into the FRAM memory when a loss of power is detected and then reloaded automatically when power is restored. In addition to retentive variables, other variables in the user program may be stored into and recalled as needed from FRAM memory by using the EEPROM_READ and EEPROM_WRITE function blocks. The HEC-P5000 Series controllers provide a total of 480 bytes that may be divided into retentive variable storage and EEPROM type storage using EZ LADDER Toolkit. Real Time Clock On Supporting models, the HEC-P5000 Series controllers allow for the use of real time in the user programs with the inclusion of a real time clock. The on-board real time clock allows the user and user program to read and set the current date and time as required by the application. The real time clock supports the month, day, year and day of week for date functions and hour, minute and seconds for time functions. The real time clock is maintained by an internal lithium battery and is enabled internally by a switch. LED Indicators All HEC-P5000 Series controllers provide four LED indicators to provide visual feedback of controller and user program status. Two LED indicators are status indicators for the HEC-P5000 Series controller itself, and two additional LED indicators are user programmable and programmed and controlled in the user program.
