SECURITY PROCEDURES
Security screening prior to boarding an aircraft is the final airport process before entering the
respective departure gate for your flight. In order to expedite the Security Control process to the
maximum extent, which will contribute to minimising your waiting time and avoiding unnecessary
delays, you are kindly requested to adhere to the following guidelines:
1.
Please be informed of the items and/or substances which you are not permitted to carry inside
your cabin luggage during the flight. Detailed information about these items can be found in
the relevant field “TRAVELLERS INFO – PROHIBITED ITEMS”.
Please bear in mind that if during the security check such items are found inside your hand
baggage, you will be requested to voluntarily dispose of them.
2.
Please place your outer clothing (coat, jacket, cap, hat, scarf, foulard, handkerchief, etc.) in
the designated baskets, so that these items are checked as separate hand luggage.
3.
Please present to the security personnel your personal 1–litre transparent re-sealable plastic
bag containing liquids, aerosols and gels in containers not exceeding 100 ml each.
4.
Please present to the security personnel as separate hand luggage the sealed tamper evident
bags containing liquids purchased at Athens International Airport or at another European
Airport. Please bear in mind that the tamper evident bags must not bear any signs of possible
tampering and the proof of purchase (receipt) must be clearly displayed.
5.
Medicine, special dietary products and baby food / milk are exempt from the restrictions of
prohibited items which are not permitted in hand luggage. However, please bear in mind that
there is a possibility that you may be requested to prove their authenticity and the necessity
for their use during the flight. Please also be advised that medical formulae or other medical
aids such as inhalers for asthmatics, spays for pharyngitis (sore throats), homeopathic
treatment in liquid form, insulin syringes for diabetics, etc., are permitted under the condition
that you submit the relevant doctor’s prescription issued in your name.
6.
Please do not forget to remove from their cases and place them in the designated baskets as
separate hand language the following items, thus contributing to both the quality and the
speed of the security checks:

Laptops, notebooks, iPads, tablets
Cameras, mobile phones
Mobile electronic devices such as small TV–sets, radios, mixers, toasters, CD players,
iPods, hair dryers, etc.)
Metallic items, coins, keys, cigarettes, lighters, sun glasses etc.
Please be reminded that in the case that you are legally carrying a personal weapon it must
always be declared to your airline during the check-in process so that the loading procedures
foreseen by law are followed.
