Description of Responsibilities
The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics is seeking an Associate or Assistant Professor
in Agricultural Finance and Agribusiness Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for
teaching, research and outreach. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate
courses in agricultural finance and agribusiness management as well as applied economic theory and/or
quantitative methods (as appropriate). The incumbent will mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate
students. The successful candidate is expected to develop a scholarly program of research in applied
economics appropriate to the broad set of agribusiness and food system issues relevant to Colorado and
will actively pursue and obtain external funding. Regular publication of research in refereed journals and
other outlets are expected. Service to the University, profession, and society are key responsibilities.

The initial nine-month appointment will have responsibilities weighted approximately 40% teaching (2-3
semester courses each academic year), 40% research, and 20% outreach and service. The distribution of
research and outreach responsibilities is negotiable.
Required Qualifications:
 A Ph.D. in agricultural economics, economics, business, or related field. The Ph.D. must be
completed before start date.
 Evidence of ability to develop a teaching program in finance and agribusiness management.
 Evidence of ability and interest in teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
 Facility with economic theory, quantitative methods and their application to applied problems.
 Evidence of ability to develop an impactful research and outreach program in applied economics.
 Ability and intention to aggressively pursue contract and grant funding.
 Ability to disseminate applied research results to a diverse set of industry, government and
academic audiences.
 Demonstrated commitment to the land-grant mission.
Desired Qualifications:
 Training and professional experience with finance, supply chain management, risk management,
logistics, production, or applied industrial organization relevant to agribusiness firms.
 Professional experience in U.S. and/or international agribusiness including organizations that
support the industry (trade associations, government agencies, etc.).
 Knowledge of agriculture and/or the broader food system.





Ability and interest to work in interdisciplinary research and outreach.
Ability and interest to align with College of Agricultural Sciences Strategic Initiatives.

Ability and interest to contribute toward the online distance degree completion program for the
B.S. degree in Agricultural Business
Effective Date:
Position available as an annual 9-month tenure track appointment beginning as soon as August 15, 2015.
Salary:
Competitive and based upon professional credentials and experience.
