Troubleshooting Reset Button | Troubleshooting Tips | Rebooting the WebSTAR Gateway & Modem This section details information about troubleshooting the WebSTAR DPR362 Wireless Cable Modem Gateway. Reset Button Briefly pressing the Reset Button, along with rebooting the Gateway & Modem, will refresh the Gateway’s connections. If the Gateway locks up, press the Reset Button or power it down for three to five seconds. Pressing the Reset Button and holding it in for a few seconds will clear all of the Gateway’s data and restore the factory defaults. This should be done only if you are experiencing networking problems and have exhausted all of the other troubleshooting options. By resetting the Gateway, you run the risk of creating conflicts between the PCs’ actual IP Addresses and what the Gateway thinks the IP Addresses of the PCs should be. You may be forced to reboot each network PC. Back to Top Troubleshooting Tips If the Gateway & Modem does not operate as expected, the following troubleshooting tips may help: • The Gateway & Modem does not register a cable connection. • The Gateway & Modem works with a standard, 75-ohm, RF coaxial cable. If you are using a different cable, the Gateway & Modem will not function properly. Contact the cable service provider to determine whether you are using the correct cable. • Verify that the plug to the Gateway & Modem AC adapter is properly inserted into an electrical outlet. • Verify that the Gateway & Modem AC adapter is not plugged into an electrical outlet that is controlled by a wall switch. If a wall switch controls the electrical outlet, make sure the switch is in the ON position. • Verify that the Power and Cable indicators on the front panel of the cable modem are illuminated. • Verify that all cables are properly connected, and that you are using the correct cables. • Verify that the cable service is active and that it supports two-way service. • Verify that you have called the cable service provider and given them the serial number and MAC address of the Gateway & Modem. • If you are using a cable signal splitter so that you can connect the Gateway & Modem to other devices, remove the splitter and reconnect the cables so that the Gateway & Modem is connected directly to the cable input. If the Gateway & Modem now functions properly, the cable signal splitter may be defective and may need to be replaced. Back to Top Rebooting the WebSTAR Gateway & Modem You should only reboot the Gateway after all other troubleshooting methods have been exhausted. The following are the three ways to reboot the Gateway: 1. Briefly press the Reset Button. 2. Turn the Gateway’s power off for a few seconds and power it back on again. 3.
