Thermal switch (self protection)
A reversible thermal-switch device protects the
starter motor against breakdown, potentially caused
by overheating because of misuse, such as:

▶▶Moving the vehicle by starter motor only

An additional rubber boot protection cover protects
the solenoid against dust and water, potentially
entering the inner of the starter motor.

Integrated mechanical relay (IMR)
The starter motor is equipped with a pre-relay –
integrated in starter-motor control circuit. The IMR
serves as an interface for electronic triggering of the
start event by the engine’s ECU or an on-board computer respectively and reliably controls the cranking
(at HXF95-L 24 V a 24 V-IMR is a standard feature).
