Starter Motors and Generators Optional features available to enhance the Heavy Duty starter motors of HX(F) series – the ideal choice to cover specific needs IP protection class Thermal switch Dust protection Integrated mechanical relay (IMR) Rubber boot Introduction Starter motors of HX(F) series can be enhanced with Customer benefits various optional features. By help of those features ▶▶Standard starter motors upgraded by optional the starter motors can be configured in a very special features ▶▶Optimized solutions for specific needs and use cases way to adapt them to unique needs in specific use cases. Thanks to the modular starter motor design concept the features can be applied with reasonable effort. IP protection class (increased level of protection) Likely to be considered for special applications, such as: ▶▶IPx7k – protected in case of temporary immersion in water (e.g. in case of wading) ▶▶IPx9k – protected against high-pressure water/steam-jet cleaning Customer benefits ▶▶Offers additional protection of starter motor against ingress of dust and water ▶▶ P rotects against aggressive environmental conditions Thermal switch (self protection) A reversible thermal-switch device protects the starter motor against breakdown, potentially caused by overheating because of misuse, such as: ▶▶Uninterrupted starting attempts ▶▶Moving the vehicle by starter motor only Customer benefits ▶▶Offers reliable protection against overheating ▶▶Additional wiring is not necessary Starter Motors and Generators | Optional features available to enhance the Heavy Duty starter motors of HX(F) series Dust protection measures (available for nose-type starter motors) Additional sealings applied, e.g.: ▶▶Rest position sealing ▶▶Radial sealing at shaft Customer benefits ▶▶Improved level of protection against environmental impacts, especially forthcoming from fly-wheel/ring gear ▶▶Ideal counter measure in off-highway applications Rubber boot at solenoid (available for nose-type starter motors) An additional rubber boot protection cover protects the solenoid against dust and water, potentially entering the inner of the starter motor. ▶▶Recommended for special installation conditions Customer benefits ▶▶Improved level of protection of the solenoid in aggressive environmental conditions ▶▶Higher level of safety and flexibility for installation Integrated mechanical relay (IMR) The starter motor is equipped with a pre-relay – integrated in starter-motor control circuit. The IMR serves as an interface for electronic triggering of the start event by the engine’s ECU or an on-board computer respectively and reliably controls the cranking (at HXF95-L 24 V a 24 V-IMR is a standard feature). Customer benefits ▶▶Enables automatic start triggering by engine ECU ▶▶External relay is not required ▶▶Easy connecting of cables/wiring to the terminals ▶▶Available with optional 2-pin plug-connector, too Robert Bosch GmbH Starter Motors and Generators Postfach 30 02 40 70442 Stuttgart Germany www.bosch-automotivetechnology.com Printed in Germany 292000P1BS-C/CCA2-201409-En © Robert Bosch GmbH 2014.
