Florianopolis is the capital of Santa Catarina state in the south of Brazil. It has a vibrant and colorful mix of the best
Brazil has to offer. It is located between the cities of Porto
Alegre and Curtiba. There are 400-year-old forts, baroque churches beautiful colonial buildings and on the eastern side some of the best surfing in Brazil to be found. Situated in a rich farming expanse the city is a commercial and cultural mecca. The population in the metropolitan area of the island is home to over 821,000 people while the island itself is home to over 400,000 people. Florianopolis is connected to the mainland by a bridge which allows easy access to the rest of Brazil and it's neighboring countries.
Eligibility: Students must have a 2.75
GPA.
Program Dates: Students may attend
UNISUL for the fall or spring semester.
Cost: Students pay College of
Charleston tuition and fees. Housing costs are paid once the student arrives in Florianopolis. Most CofC financial aid will apply.
Housing: Students will stay in apartment style housing.
Application Deadline: April 1st for the fall semester, and October 1st for the spring semester.
Subjects Offered: Portuguese Language,
Business and other classes by request.
Credit: The courses taken at UNISUL must be pre-approved by the appropriate academic department for potential transfer credit.
