Starter cover with rewind starter
In order to improve durability, a new "starter cover
with rewind starter" is being introduced in two
stages:

1st stage
new "starter cover with rewind starter"
4238 190 0301 with new, more durable starter
rope, rewind spring and starter pawl.
2nd stage
new "starter cover with rewind starter"
4238 190 0302 with optimized starter cover,
4224 (TS 700, TS 800) rewind spring, new rope
rotor, plus new starter rope and starter pawl
carried over from stage 1.

4238 190 0301
In the initial stage, the previous "starter cover with
rewind starter" 4238 190 0300 will be replaced by
the new version 4238 190 0301.
Spare parts
The new "starter cover with rewind starter"
4238 190 0301 can also be used for older
machines. The previous "starter cover with rewind
starter" 4238 190 0300 is no longer available.

Cut the new "starter rope Ø 4 mm x 995 mm
(39")" to length with a hot blade or melt the ends
of the rope after cutting – this prevents the new
"starter rope Ø 4 mm x 995 mm (39")" from
unraveling

In the new "starter cover with rewind starter"
4238 190 0301, the previous "ElastoStart™ grip
Ø 4.5 mm“ (1) 0000 190 3414 with the previous
"starter rope Ø 4.5 mm“ (2) 0000 190 2901 will be
replaced by the new "grip with starter rope" (3, 4)
0000 190 3500.
The new "starter rope Ø 4 mm x 995 mm (39")" (4)
is not available individually and must be cut to a
length of 995 mm (39") from the new bulk stock
"starter rope Ø 4 mm x 30 m (100')" 0000 930 2297,
which replaces the version "starter rope
Ø 4.5 mm / 28 pieces" 0000 930 2295.

The new "grip with starter rope" (3, 4)
0000 190 3500 contains, the grip (3)
1121 195 3400, and a new more durable "starter
rope Ø 4 mm x 995 mm (39")" (4).

The knots in the new "starter rope
Ø 4 mm x 995 mm (39")" should be made with
the special knots shown, both on the end with
the new grip 1121 195 3400 as well as on the
end with the rope rotor – in doing so, observe
the protruding length of rope A (4 to 8 mm)
(.1" to .3").

On the end with the rope rotor, insert the special
knot into the knot pocket so the end of the
rope (1) faces upward and is flush with the
outermost edge (arrows) of the knot pocket –
this eliminates contact between the rope and the
pawl spring
Spare parts
The new "grip with starter rope" 0000 190 3500 may
also be used for older machines with previous
"ElastoStart™ grip Ø 4,5 mm" 0000 190 3414. The
previous "ElastoStart™ grip Ø 4.5 mm"
0000 190 3414 remains available.
The previous versions of the "starter rope
Ø 4.5 mm" 0000 190 2901 and the "starter rope
Ø 4.5 mm / 28 pieces" 0000 930 2295 remain
available for machines with the previous
"ElastoStart™ grip Ø 4.5 mm" 0000 190 3414.

Additionally, in the new "starter cover with rewind
starter" 4238 190 0301, the previous versions of the
rewind spring 4282 190 0600 and the pawl
4116 195 7200 are being replaced by the new
versions of the rewind spring (5) 4238 190 0601
and the pawl (6) 0000 195 7200. The new pawl (6)
0000 195 7200 has a steel pin.
Spare parts
The new versions of the rewind spring (5)
4238 190 0601 and the pawl (6) 0000 195 7200 can
also be used for machines with the previous "starter
cover with rewind starter" 4238 190 0300.
The previous versions of the rewind spring
4282 190 0600 and the pawl 4116 195 7200 remain
available for other series.

4238 190 0302
In the second stage, the "starter cover with rewind
starter" 4238 190 0301 introduced in the first stage
will be replaced by the new version 4238 190 0302.

machines. The "starter cover with rewind starter"
4238 190 0301 introduced in the first stage will
remain available until availability of the new "starter
cover with rewind starter" 4238 190 0302.

Additionally, in the new "starter cover with rewind
starter" 4238 190 0302, the previous starter
cover (1) 4238 190 0401 is replaced by the new
version (2) 4238 190 0404. The new starter
cover (2) 4238 190 0404 can be recognized by the
holes for screw-mounting of the new rewind spring
(see Section b 1.2.1).

In the new "starter cover with rewind starter"
4238 190 0302, the previous rewind spring (1)
4238 190 0601 is replaced by the new, screwmounted version (2) 4224 190 0600. The new
rewind spring 4224 190 0600 (2) is mounted with
new "screws P3x6“ 9104 003 0410 (3) (2 pieces) on
the new starter cover (4) (see Section b 1.2.2).
The new starter cover (2) 4238 190 0404 may only
be installed in machines with the new "starter cover
with rewind starter“ 4238 190 0302.
The previous starter cover (1) 4238 190 0401
remains available for machines with the previous
versions of the "starter cover with rewind starter"
4238 190 0300 and 4238 190 0301.
Spare parts
The new rewind spring (2) 4224 190 0600 may only
be installed in machines with the new "starter cover
with rewind starter“ 4238 190 0302.
The previous rewind spring (1) 4238 190 0601
remains available for machines with the previous
versions of the "starter cover with rewind starter"
4238 190 0300 and 4238 190 0301.

The geometry (arrows) of the new rope rotor (2)
4238 190 1001 has been optimized for the new
versions of the rewind spring (see Section b 1.2.1)
and the starter cover (see Section b 1.2.2).
Service notes / spare parts
The new rope rotor (2) 4238 190 1001 may only be
installed in machines with the new "starter cover
with rewind starter“ 4238 190 0302.
When carrying out repairs to the rope rotor,
encapsulate the hub of the rope rotor and the pawl
bearing with lubricant 0781 120 1111.
The previous rope rotor (1) 4223 190 1001 remains
available for machines with the previous versions of
the "starter cover with rewind starter"
4238 190 0300 and 4238 190 0301.
