NVD is a family owned Irish company that has continuously strengthened and improved on its
position as the main suppliers of vehicle transport and vehicle storage in Ireland.
NVD is looking to recruit a Junior Planner for the company's Transport Department.
We are interested in hearing from graduates and experienced administration staff with a keen
interest in pursuing a career in logistics, as well and hearing from candidates with some planning
experience.
A full training programme will be provided to successful candidates.
Role Responsibility:
The holder accepts responsibility for the scheduling and monitoring of vehicle deliveries within
agreed delivery times. This includes routing, monitoring drivers, their working hours and ensuring
the operation runs efficiently at all times.
General Responsibilities:














Coordinate & control the delivery cycle. This may include the core Irish transport business
and/or a specific contract and/or dealer to dealer business
Assist Planner and assign loads to drivers (including route & journey times), giving full
consideration to all health and safety regulations
Liaise with drivers, customers, suppliers and others as appropriate
Book ferries / flights where appropriate
Coordinate UK/European assignments (short term contracts)
Coordinate docks/night schedules
Coordinate trunking
Plan D2D jobs
Maintain D2D system
Communicate effectively with team members and harness good working relations
Maintain systems, processes and develop where appropriate
Assist with the scheduling of transporters for service/maintenance checks
Attend Transport Team meetings and participate in team decisions and operations
Undertake other duties from time to time as appropriate

Communicate effectively and assertively with drivers and harness good working relations
Ensure driver performance meets the standards required by the company and its
customers
Initiate appropriate corrective action when substandard performance or issues arise
Ensure transport systems are fully up to date and represent actuality
Complete all audit checks as required. Follow-up any exceptions as required
Filter information to the transport planner as required
Ensure all loads are named on the system
Liaise with other departments and compile special requests on a daily basis
Adhere to agreed daily timelines
Knowledge and Skills Required:













An appropriate tertiary education certificate / diploma is preferred
Self-motivated, enthusiastic and driven
Excellent planning and organisational skills
Must have effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to give direction to others and motivate high performance
A good understanding of how an efficient fleet of circa 50-100 vehicles is run
Computer literate and familiarity with computerised and manual vehicle planning
systems
Good geographical knowledge of Ireland, UK and Europe
Knowledge of Tachograph regulations/legislation and other RSA legislation (preferred
but not essential)
Ability to meet multiple deadlines and work effectively under pressure
Comfortable working in a dynamic and quick changing environment
Full clean driving licence
Must participate and pass all internal NVD training courses for planners
